Tiger Shroff To Star in Official Indian Remake Of RAMBO, Directed By Siddharth Anand

India/Bollywood's rising action star Tiger Shroff (Baaghi, Heropanti) will star in the official Indian remake of Rambo, to be directed by Siddharth Anand (Bang Bang). M! Capital Ventures, Original Entertainment, Impact Films, and Siddharth Anand Pictures will co-produce the film.

The producing team will include Daljit DJ Parmar, Samir Gupta, Hunt Lowry, Siddharth Anand, Saurabh Gupta, and Gulzar Inder Chahal. Principal photography is slated to commence in February 2018, targeting a late 2018 release.

This action feature will follow the last surviving member of an elite covert unit of the Indian Armed forces who returns home to discover a war waging in his own land. Forced into the dangerous jungles and frozen mountains of the Himalayas, he unleashes mayhem and destruction, becoming the unstoppable machine he was trained to be.

Millennium Media's Avi Lerner said: "We are happy to see one of the greatest action movies in Hollywood being remade for the Indian audience to enjoy. With such an ambitious team behind the project we could not feel more confident about the potential of this film to become one of the next greatest action franchises in India."

Director Siddharth Anand said: "Rambo is one of the most iconic action blockbuster films from my generation. I grew up looking up to heroes such as Stallone, and in a time where the Indian industry is lacking action characters of Rambo's caliber, this is a perfect time to introduce Tiger in this role. I cannot wait to work with Tiger on this film; he has that aura about him, a power and vulnerability that will make him the next iconic action hero of our time."

Actor Tiger Shroff said: "It's a huge honor to step into one of my biggest idols iconic characters. There's a huge pressure and responsibility because Rambo is THE all-time action hero for a worldwide audience. Being a martial artist and a huge action movie buff since childhood, this all seems very surreal and I'm very grateful for this opportunity. By no means do I believe I can replace the legendary Sylvester Stallone, however I do feel that somehow this is something I've been preparing for since childhood."

Rambo was first introduced on the big screen in 1982 in First Blood, which made over $125 million USD worldwide, followed by a number of successful remakes, including the most recent Rambo in 2008.

Anand is an Indian film director whose last directorial feature was the 2014 film Bang Bang, the Indian remake of the Tom Cruise starrer Knight and Day which grossed over $55 million USD worldwide.

Shroff is an Indian actor and martial arts expert who has been rising to stardom in India/Bollywood, starting with his 2014 film debut in the action/drama Heropanti, which earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He next starred in the action feature Baaghi, which was another big box-office success worldwide.

Anand and Shroff are both represented by Jawahar Sharma of Kwan.
