Academy Award® Nominee Amy Ryan Joins The Cast of Filmnation Entertainment and 30West’s "Late Night"

30WEST and FilmNation Entertainment announced today that Academy Award® Nominee Amy Ryan (Birdman, Gone Baby  Gone) has joined the cast of Mindy Kaling's Late Night, directed by Nisha Ganatra and starring Kaling and Emma Thompson.

30WEST and FilmNation Entertainment are financing the upcoming comedy which also stars John Lithgow, Hugh Dancy, Reid Scott, Paul Walter Hauser, Denis O'Hare, John Early, Max Casella and Megalyn Echikunwoke. 

Kaling wrote the script and is also producing with Howard Klein, alongside Imperative Entertainment and FilmNation Entertainment, who are also handling international sales.  30WEST and CAA are handling US rights.

Late Night centers on a late-night talk show host (Thompson) who is at risk of losing her long-running show right when she hires her first female writer (Kaling) who revitalizes her show and her life. Principal photography is underway in New York.


Robert Luketic To Helm Lakeshore Entertainment’s Romantic Comedy “The Wedding Year” Starring Sarah Hyland

Ryan will next be seen this fall in Amazon Studios' Beautiful Boy in which she stars alongside Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet, as well as Strange But True in which she stars with Greg Kinnear for CBS Films.  She recently starred in Central Intelligence with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart and Brad Furman's The Infiltrator.  Ryan was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and SAG Award for her performance in Ben Affleck's Gone Baby Gone.

Recent FilmNation productions include: "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman's Life Itself starring Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde; Jennifer Kent's The NightingaleThe Lodge starring Riley Keough; Armando Iannucci's The Personal History of David CopperfieldThe Children  Act starring Emma Thompson; and Sebastian Lelio's Disobedience starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams. The FilmNation sales titles include Amazon Studios The  Aeronauts, from director Tom Harper, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones and Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria.

At Tribeca, 30WEST negotiated and secured the deal for Apple to acquire worldwide rights to the Ed Sheeran feature documentary Songwriter, directed by Murray Cummings and produced by Kimmie Kim.  30WEST recently partnered with Bleecker Street to buy the U.S. rights to Wash Westmoreland's Colette starring Keira Knightley and arranged the partnership between NEON and AGBO Films to buy Assassination Nation, directed by Sam Levinson. 

30WEST partnered with NEON to co-finance marketing and distribution of the acclaimed featureI, Tonya.  In addition, they financed Karyn Kusama's Destroyer, starring Nicole Kidman, and Peter Hedges' Ben Is Back, starring Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges, both which are currently in post-production. This spring 30WEST will release the film Beast with Roadside Attractions, which premiered to acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and enjoyed its US premiere at Sundance.
