Gravitas Ventures Brings ”Punching and Stealing” To VOD/Digital Audiences

Punching and Stealing, the second feature film from gifted Second City Conservatory Alumni writer/director Ryan Churchill mischievously mixing comedy, crime and eccentric characters, Churchill has embodied the crowd rousing style of blockbuster directors Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino.

A modern-day indie caper Punching and Stealing will be released by Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company globally release on all VOD/Digital & DVD platforms on June 2nd, 2020.

Punching and Stealing, is inspired by real financial crime. In the streets off-the-strip of Las Vegas, a jaded IT Coordinator, Sam Bransby (Churchill), takes the law into his own hands against white collar financial criminals, by joining an underground vigilante faction (Rodriguez), only to find out those he loves may be his real enemy.

He has to decide between revenge or a relationship with his new fiance, Jen (Vilim). Starring: Mel Rodriguez (Onward, On Becoming God In Central Florida), Ryan Churchill (The 60 Yard Line), Jenny Vilim  (Area Q, Commander and Chief), Janina Gavankar  (True Blood, The Morning Show), Joelle Carter (Justified, Chicago Justice), Maurice Compte (Narcos, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Matt Iseman (American Ninja Warrior), and Linc Hand (42, 68 Whiskey).

The fun of Churchill's characters is found in these often-flawed humans having a lark, trading insults, and making mischief in the pursuit of righting perceived injustice. Punching and Stealing, is the work of a filmmaker whose avid embrace of pop culture manifests itself in ways fresh, exuberantly playful, but never pretentious.

"This film is for the common man (woman) that feels like they've been wronged or beat down, and you want to beat back. Literally. Haven't you ever just wanted to punch someone? You can't. It's illegal and immoral. But you can in a movie. We want to take you on a ride that has a serious subject matter with characters that don't take themselves too seriously. Punching and Stealing is a relevant, weird and heartfelt caper. Enjoy it. It's nuts," says the film's director Ryan Churchill.

Punching and Stealing, is inspired by actual crime. Set in the streets of Las Vegas, away from the strip, Punching And Stealing is an action comedy vigilante film about Sam Bransby, a young man that becomes jaded and uses violence to get back his dad's stolen pension money from corporate suits under the direction of his hitman boss (Mel Rodriguez ) in their organization, Pension Recovery Force.

As fate would have it, as he turns to the dark side (with humor) in his vigilante faction, he meets the love of his life, Jen. As hard as he tries to keep it a secret from her, his vigilante world and love life collide. He attempts to convince her to be his wing-woman but her moral code prohibits her from joining Sam's underground faction of beating people until they're unrecognizable.

Punching and Stealing is an exciting blend of different genres that is both fun and unexpected, and we're thrilled to be a part of its release, said Brett Rogalsky, Acquisitions Coordinator at Gravitas Ventures.

Punching And Stealing, is a ChurcHiE Prods film directed by Churchill & co-director Danny Parker-Lopes (Minority Report, Choke.Kick.Girl), produced by Parker-Lopes and Andy Bates (Altered by Elvis, Delivery: the Beast Within), and executive produced by Churchill and Tim Lucke (The 60 Yard Line, Choke.Kick.Girl), leased by Bates, and Shawn Grice (Capitalism Rocks!, Lines), and composed by Kris Kowaleski (The Titan Games, Are You The One?) and Nathan Hostetter (Blink, Birthday).
