President Biden maintained a steady pace through the first 94 days addressing international relations, rebuilding the global climate initiative, acknowledging the genocide in Armenia, easing Iranian sanctions, pandemic reintegration, and the swell of racial injustice.

 

The President's job approval rating, according to the website fivethirtyeight.com, for the period ending April 25, 2021, increased by 0.6% to 53.8% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness decreased by 0.7% percentage points to 39.9%. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Nine Minutes that Changed the World

The agonizing nine-and-a-half-minute death of George Floyd, captured on cell phone video, at the hands of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, echoed around the world sparking outrage, demonstrations and protests which quickly deteriorated in major cities to riots, looting, and uncontrollable attacks on police everywhere.

This week the murder of George Floyd once again took center stage this week as the guilty verdict was delivered. Cities around the nation prepared for the possibility jurors would come to a different conclusion and acquit find the former law enforcement veteran.

Justice – Policing in America

This week's conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd brought swift claims of the dawn of a new day and finally justice.

"It was a murder in the full light of day, and it ripped the blinders off for the whole world to see the systemic racism the Vice President just referred to — the systemic racism that is a stain our nation's soul; the knee on the neck of justice for Black Americans; the profound fear and trauma, the pain, the exhaustion that Black and brown Americans experience every single day," President Biden said.

The National Guard had been called up in multiple cities and white businesses prepared to offset the possibility of volcanic violent eruptions and racially targeted responses to crimes which they didn't support, participate, plan, finances or implement.

This segregated approach to culpability is a war tactic. Most famously in 1938, Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass, when Hitler's Nazi's targeted Jewish business owners. The same happened in the Balkans war in 1999, when the Serbians burned out business owner who were of a different ethnicity.

President Biden in his inauguration address segregated racial justice, and indicated now is the time, we can end systemic racial injustice.

Segregating justice is not justice for all, segregating justice by race inflames those who are left on the sidelines to endure the hardship of injustice.


Derek Chauvin, Cop at Center of George Floyd Killing, Found Guilty


Pitching to the American people a modernized ideal of the I have a dream speech that includes justice for only a single population denies the foundations of the original, "I Have a Dream" speech.

"When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was the promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and he continued, "But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice," Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I Have A Dream" August 28, 1963.

Justice For All

Overhauling the policing system, from the top down to ensure justice reaches every hamlet, township, small town, and large city ensures the words of which are printed ending the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States, this great nation which we live and hope to leave better for the next generation, "I pledge allegiance to the Flag and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

Addressing black and brown men, singling this demographic out as the torchbearers of injustice segregates all those who have endured the spirit crushing destructiveness and disillusion of injustice.

The demographics for sexual violence are staggering so much so that most victims refuse to report the crime, which creates the perfect crime of opportunity without the probability of prosecution. The statistics and repercussions far outweigh the idealism of and expectation of justice.

Out of every 1000 victims, 350 report the crimes, and six see a courtroom.

Stranger rape, from personal experience, appears to be the least likely to be prosecuted even with evidence, roommates, who would have had to have been involved, and GHB, proving essentially the crime was committed by someone known to the roommates, and not the element of a random unknown who prowls the city streets seeking his next victim.

Same race rape is even less likely to be prosecuted as women routinely endure what is commonly known as the second assault when they report the crimes to the police. Having to defend oneself to those who have sworn an oath and allegiance to uphold justice and hear them actively show favor to the unknown assailant is disheartening, at best.

After suffering through the sexual assault, the rape test, zero chance at justice, and finally as society believes the value of a female life is less than a male's. and so the assailants can live without a constant reminder of the frat house blitz attack an active campaign for total destruction that usually includes career assassination, destroying the foundation, the years of investment, preparation, so that the perpetrator is free to roam, rape, and kill, figuratively, and literally if necessary.

Justice for all is not segregated by race, position, or title.

Now as the Justice Department has taken up an investigation into the Minneapolis Police, what does it take to find the corruption which stopped the investigation in Hudson County, New Jersey? How many cases have been covered up by corruption of a single detective? Or is it a simple paid for protection scandal?

Climate Summit

President Biden held a 40-nation virtual climate summit addressing many issues which the United States had been excluded from during the first four years following the Paris Climate Accord.

Beginning on January 21, 2021 Biden signed into law the Climate Executive Order tackling The Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad. This EO focused on international financing either providing assistance to nations determined to assist in contributing to the global accord and conversely to deny funding to nations who refuse alter key components such as carbon intensive fossil fuel emissions.

The Executive Order outlined a four-step platform, Scaling-Up International Climate Finance and Enhancing its Impact; Mobilizing Private Finance Internationally; Ending International Official Financing for Carbon-Intensive Fossil Fuel Based Energy; and Making Capital Flows Consistent with Low-Emissions, Climate-Resilient Pathways, which set the president's agenda in motion.

He continued his effort this week by addressing the forty-nation climate coalition highlighting avenues of action moving ahead with the bigger topics of reducing carbon-based emission by 2030 to a boot on the ground approach which will build critical clean energy from the ground up.

Utilizing the science to address crucial areas which contribute to environmental disasters, to re-invent manufacturing using clean energy concepts, President Biden said, "I see an opportunity to create millions of good-paying, middle-class, union jobs.  I see line workers laying thousands of miles of transmission lines for a clean, modern, resilient grid. I see workers capping abandoned oil and gas wells, and coalmines, putting a stop to the methane leaks, and protecting the health of our communities.  I see autoworkers building electric vehicles, and electricians installing nationwide charging stations along our highways. I see new carbon capture and green hydrogen plants to forge cleaner steel and cement and produce clean power.  I see farmers deploying cutting-edge tools to make soil of our Heartland the next frontier in carbon innovation."

Vaccine Totals

Globally the vaccine total distribution has increased by more than 120million over the past week. That daily distribution rate fell by 1million.

Bloomberg.com has built a vaccine tracker which can be seen here. "More than 1 billion doses have been administered across 172 countries, according to data collected by Bloomberg. The latest rate was roughly 18.3 million doses a day."

"In the U.S., 226 million doses have been given so far. In the last week, an average of 2.82 million doses per day were administered," and "the latest vaccination rate is 2,824,078 doses per day, on average. At this pace, it will take another 3 months to cover 75% of the population," reported Bloomberg.com.

Coronavirus Totals

While the infection rates of the coronavirus have continued to decline around the world. A new strain, a mutation, has created global concern for leaders around the world are determining the best direction for the protection of the population. The importance of maintaining personal protective practices is imperative to controlling the spread.

For the week ending April 25, 2021, coronavirus cases globally, to 5,656,800 confirmed cases, bringing the total of confirmed cases worldwide to 146,084,500 people with a total worldwide death toll of 3,094,600 deaths, a weekly death rate of 86,750. (Data from The New York Times).

COVID US Totals

Infections rates in the United States are also on the rise. For the week ending April 25, 2021, the total confirmed cases rose to 32,070,000 people with new confirmed cases increasing by 898,600 with an average of 128,371 cases daily over a seven-day period. The coronavirus has claimed 571,400 total deaths, adding 5,000 more deaths to the total of lives lost due to the coronavirus. (Data from The New York Times).

India's COVID Total

The newest global epicenter for the still extremely dangerous coronavirus pandemic is now in India where 16,610,400 cases have been confirmed. At least 189,000 have died and the transmission rate is astronomically high with an increase of 156 percent change over the past 14 days.

The nearly 1.5billion who reside in one of the poorest nations in the world are also the least likely to have access to adequate medical care, and more, the least likely to have an extensive vaccine rollout. The dense population in New Delhi, and other hot spots will act as a conduit for widespread transmission of the deadly contagion.

The highest number of coronavirus cases are in the western state of Maharashtra, followed by Delhi and Gujarat. The confirmed coronavirus cases over the past three days broke the 1million mark creating shortages in medical supplies, including oxygen with unprecedented death following.

Dr. D K Baluja, medical director at Jaipur Golden hospital in Rohini, said, "We were supposed to receive our oxygen supply at 5:30pm on Friday and had plans in place to pull through for another two to three hours. But when the oxygen therapy to the patients. But when the oxygen supply didn't arrive for five hours, we had to use 50 big cylinders kept in reserve. It couldn't deliver oxygen with the required pressure, leading to the death of some critically ill patients" It is a combined failure of all of us. It is a catastrophic manmade disaster in a developing country."

Media agencies are reporting the second wave has resulted in a death wave which is causing crematoriums to overflow leading official to allow residents to bury or cremate their dead, anywhere including their backyards.

"A record 348 people died of Covid-19 in Delhi on Friday, the highest since the pandemic broke out more than a year ago, and up from 306 on Thursday. The official daily count of Covid-protocol funerals in the Delhi crossed the 500 mark for the first time on Friday. Overcrowding at the Subhash Nagar crematorium forced South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to temporarily shut down the facility on Friday evening," reported The Times of India.

The government is considering extending an essential lockdown to combat the surge in cases.

Armenian Genocide

President Biden's announcement recognizing the Armenian Genocide which occurred during the Ottoman-Empire in 1915. Millions were starved, massacred or marched to the deaths in a extermination campaign.

The announcement, which all leaders before Biden, steered clear of addressing the authorities, has received a quick rebuke from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who explained the president had no authority to judge history.

The announcement provided acknowledgement for the survivors and their descendant many who moved to the united States served to destabilize relations in the region.

Ingenuity, The MARS Helicopter Takes Flight

Ingenuity, the helicopter, which made the journey to MARS with Perseverance, the rover that landed safely back in February, completed its first two flights navigating the thin Martian air and performing without flaw for a global audience.

The mini-helicopter, a twin blade motorized drone style box with a flat panel top which holds mini-solar panels and circuits, the necessary parts to provide the power source, and several cameras, at every angle, from the top, and bottom to capture 360 views of MARS as it completes a month-long mission journeying further with each flight.

Ingenuity's Mission as described on the NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory at California Institute of Technology website explained "Its performance during these experimental test flights will help inform decisions relating to considering small helicopters for future Mars missions, where they could perform in a support role as robotic scouts, surveying terrain from above, or as full standalone science craft carrying instrument payloads. Taking to the air would give scientists a new perspective on a region's geology and even allow them to peer into areas that are too steep or slippery to send a rover. In the distant future, they might even help astronauts explore Mars."

The third flight will be April 25, 2021.
