US Markets Rally in Four Day Week; DOW Sets Record; World Markets Hold Strong

The red hot Dow Jones Industrial Average sent markets soaring throughout the July 5, 2014 week heating up the New York Stock Exchange as the DOW flirted with a record 17,000 and closed the four day holiday week holding strong setting a new record.

The Dow surged up surfing the strong June Jobs report, after sweating Monday's bleak performance with minimal gains, set a closing record at 17, 068.26.

Big winners for the week include 3M (0.18/0.12%) trading 1.14M shares and a closing price of $145.41 per share, Boeing (0.89/0.70%) trading 2.00M shares and closing at $128.51 per share.  Exxon Mobile Corporation at $102.59 per share, Ford at $17.32 per share, and GE at $26.86 per share, all closed up in moderate trading.

Losers include Microsoft Corp.( -0.24/-0.24%), trading 15.97M with a closing price of $41.80 per share.

Kobe Street trading 42.28M shares up 161.00 for a net gain of 2.55%, Mazda Motor Corp trading 41.84M shares, up 493.00 with a net gain of 1.23% and Hitachi Ltd., with  up sharply at 775.00 after trading 38.85M shares and a net gain of 3.20%.

The NASDAQ had a strong week closing at 4485.93 up 28.19/0.63% with very little fluctuation the NASDAQ had a bullish run throughout the week.  

The S&P 500 ran alongside the DOW and NASDAQ, stayed strong and closed up at 1985.44 with a gain of 10.82/0.55%.

World Markets

Nikkei 225

The Japanese Nikkei bounced back this week after a disastrous final week in June free fall peaking at 15479.50 before smoothing out and closed the week at 15, 437.13 with a gain of 88.84/.58%.  

Big winners for the week include Pioneer Corporation (18.00/7.44%), Minebea Co Ltd (59.00/5.09%), Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co. Ltd (23.00/4.72%), and Hitachi Zosen Corp (23.00/4.32%).

Losers include Taisei Corp.( -9.00/-1.62%), Dai-ichi Life Insurance (-23.00/-1.53%),  Inpex Corp (-24.00/-1.52%),  and Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co., (-3.00/-1.36%).

Movers on the Nikkei include Kobe Street trading 42.28M shares at $161.00 per share for a net gain of 2.55%, Mazda Motor Corp trading 41.84M shares, at $493.00 with a net gain of 1.23% and Hitachi Ltd., at $775.00 per share trading 38.85M shares and a net gain of 3.20%.

FTSE 100

London Markets rallied from a disastrous final week in June staying strong throughout the five day trading period barely falling past the week high of 6874.45 to close at 6866.05 a net gain of 0.84/0.01%.

Big winners in the FTSE 100 include Experian PC (18.00/1.79%), easyJet PLC (13.00/0.96%), Aggreko PLC (16.00/0.95%) and Morrison (Wm) Supermarkets (1.70/0.93%).

Losers include Sports Direct International PLC (-16.00/-2.08%), British Land Co PLC (-10.00/-1.42%), Mondi PLC (-14.00/-1.30%), CHR PLC (-20.00/-1.29%).

Movers on the London FTSE 100 include Vodafone Group PLC traded 50.18M shares, at $198.35 per share with a net gain of 0.92% and Glencore PLC trading 17.01M shares, at $342.20 with a net gain of 0.21%. 

On the downside Lloyds Banking Group fell sharply trading 46.69M shares at $75.68 in heavy trading with a net loss of .94% and Barclays PLC selling at$218.55 in light trading, 19.19M, for a net loss of 0.36%.

Hang Seng Index

After a rocky start the Hong Kong Markets evened out performing well after hitting a high of 23626.14 the Heng Send Index finished the week closing at 23546.36 with a net gain of 14.92/0.06%.

Big winners in the Hang Seng Index include China Resources Land Ltd., (0.48/3.27%), Galaxy Entertainment Group (1.70/2.63%), Sand China Ltd (1.45/2.43%) and China Merchants Holding (International) Co Ltd (0.60/2.40%).

Losers include CNOOC Ltd (-0.36/-2.56%), China Resources Power Holding Co Ltd (-0.55/-2.44%), China Unicom Hong Kong Ltd (-0.24/-1.96%), Lenovo Group Ltd (-0.18/-1.71%).

Movers on the Heng Seng Hong Kong Index include Bank of China in heavy trading 308.54M shares, up slightly at 3.60 with a net gain of 1.41% and Industrial and Com trading 133.17M shares, up 5.01 with a net gain of 0.40% and China Construction Bank up 5.64 trading 113.95m shares with a gain of 0.53%.

On the downside CNOOC Ltd fell sharply trading 88.18M shares dropping 13.68 points with a net loss of 2.56%.
