Bomb Attacks Target Iraqi Christians

Christmas Day 2013 will be remembered as one of the bloodiest in recent history as multiple car bombs exploded throughout Bagdad and the surrounding countryside killing 42 and wounding nearly one hundred more.

Extremists launched the deadliest attack targeting Christian worshippers who had just left Christmas Day services in the Doura district of Bagdad when a car bomb exploded killing 27 and injuring close to 60 others.

A second attack, in the same predominantly Christian district of Doura, killed 11 and wounded 14 others when three bomb blasts exploded simultaneously in a crowded bazaar. Shop keepers also reported property damage.

Several roadside bombs exploded in unrelated attacks were launched throughout Iraqi:

A roadside bomb exploded near a bus carrying Shiite pilgrims killing one and wounding five.

A second roadside bomb exploded targeting a second bus of Shiite pilgrims. Two injuries were reported.

A bomb explosion in the city of Tuz-Khurmato wounded three.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
