23 Tourists Killed, 44 Wounded, in Tunisia Museum Attack

Nearly two dozen tourists were massacred in a brazen midday preplanned ambush at Bardo National Museum in the capital city of Tunis that left another forty-four injured and the shooters dead in what is being called a terrorist attack.

Gunman, according to sources, were hiding in place as tourists from eight nations were disembarking buses and crossing the pathway into the museum. When the shooting began some of the tourists ran toward the building and were pursued by masked gunmen.

Police sources say the siege lasted nearly three hours and ended with as an anti-terror team killed the gunmen. Accomplices are being sought.

Tunisian took to the streets in a nighttime rally denouncing the attack praying and lighting candles near the gate of the site which is a tourist destination and houses the largest collection of Roman Mosaics in a palatial setting.

World leaders have expressed outrage and offered words of condolences.

The Tunisia mass shooting comes two months after a similar brazen attack at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France that left a dozen dead and a nation in shock.

The Bardo Museum attack was the worst show of violence in the predominately westernized Arab nation since the 2002 Ghriba synagogue bombing which killed 21 people and injured thirty others.

This is a developing story.
