HIV Cells Used to Fight Cancer

"Fire with Fire," a three minute documentary from DB Productions and GE Froward, a subsidiary of General Electric, presents the findings of a rare cancer treatment, breakthrough,  CTL019, decades in the making.

A Ross Kaufman Film, "Fire with Fire," highlights a radical medical treatment that is gaining momentum as the clinical trials are performing beyond the wildest expectations of the research teams and curing cancer.

Dr. Stephan Grupp of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Dr. Carl H. June of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, featured in the short film, explain the current prognosis of Emily Whitehead, a pediatric leukemia patient: She is deathly ill and is expected to die.

Which is how T-Cell therapy is introduced. T-Cell therapy, or CTL019, gathers the non-effective T-Cells from the patient and reprograms them, externally, with virus therapy in this case, the HIV virus is used. It is injected into the T-Cells to reprogram them through use of the HIV virus to become cancer fighters.

Op/Ed: Is it Really Our Job to Save the Addict

Emma Whitehead, the child featured in the video, was immediately stricken with a high fever and doctors admit she "couldn't have gotten any sicker and not die." It is described as the T-Cell reproduction became so rapid in the child that she needed an inhibitor to stop the regeneration process. She was admitted to ICU.

And then a miracle: The HIV cells began to eat away at the cancer cells and within a short time she was cancer free and has remained cancer free. More importantly she is healthy, and lives a normal healthy life

Dr. Carl H. June is the foremost expert in the field of White cell co-stimulation and led the research group that announced the exceptional and hopeful results.

To date twelve adult and pediatric patients have been treated using CTL019 cells, nine have responded and five including two children have experienced a complete remission.

Co-stimulation of cell production is defined as creating an agent that will stimulate a deadened or weakened white cell to resurrect with new life which enables the Lymphocyte to resume natural disease fighting duties at its pre-deadened levels or infuses to have the cell resurrected with a super power agent.

The immune system is like a five-fold shield protecting the human from infection, disease, virus and bacteria with each white cell possessing a different function in protection.  Cells are the transmitters, small pieces of programmed transmitters, which are trained, genetically to fight disease.

White cells, for some unknown reason, do not fight tumors. Deconstructing cellular make-up is primary tool in cancer research.

Determining why the immune system does not attack tumors is the foundation of global research in the fight to find a cure for cancer.

White Cells, Red cells, Natural Killing Cells, which is exactly what it sounds like, each, play a part in healthy immune system. Serial Killer Cells, is a relatively new term, defines the radical new medical approach, T cell therapy, in fighting cancer.

The premise of "Fire with Fire" is re-programming the white cells, or T-Cells, to attack cancer agents and specifically B cell cancers. None of the patients are injected with a direct HIV virus. The patient's own T-cells are removed and reprogrammed with the HIV virus and then returned to the patient.

Leukemia is caused when white cells attack each other as the subset of white cells or B cells attack the dominate A white cells that fight for our survival against infection, disease, bacteria and virus.  T-Cells are signal at the time of B cell invasion to fight the intruding disease. While some cells are killed, often times, B cells can advance under the radar, forming tumors, metastasizing, taking over the immune system which results in death.
