Annual New York Tastes Benefits City Harvest

New York Magazine recently hosted the eleventh annual New York Tastes benefiting the food charity City Harvest at Skylight in the Tribeca section of New York City.                                                                                                 

The food lover's extravaganza, hosted by New York Magazine's Food Editor Gillian Duffy, brought forty of New York's top chefs and mixologists under one roof for an evening of food and beverage tasting. 901 Silver Tequila, Cote du Rhones wines, Hoegaarden Beer from Anheuser Busch, Leffe, The Belgium Beer, Stella Artois Beer and Icelandic Glacial Water provided the drink of one's choice throughout the evening.

Attended by well over 1,000 guests who donated, through tickets sales, between $175 to $250 for the opportunity to sample a cornucopia of Manhattan's culinary delights, from the ultra exclusive Le Cirque to the accessible Godiva Chocolates the aisles were filled with tempting, delicious, signature dishes from New York City's best restaurants.

David Rockwell of The Rockwell Group is responsible for designing the visual displays, including restaurateur booths, bar area, electronic projection signage incorporating through artistic interpretation traditional usage of culinary tools and the five taste senses of salty, savory, sweet, sour and bitter. 

Chef's serving up samples of their signature culinary delicacies included Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Masahara Morimoto of Morimoto who served Yellowtail Pastrami sandwiches. The world famous Le Cirque served a Stuffed Mushroom Tortellini with Black Fig and Chef Michael Lamonaco of Porter House New York, located in The Time Warner Building at Columbus Circle, served Braised Beef.  L'Ecole, the restaurant of The French Culinary Institute, created a light whipped mouse Apple Dessert with a Tanqueray Gin chaser to compliment the flavor experience.

Other restaurants featuring their famous fare for the evening's festivities included Abe & Arthur's, Adour Alain Ducasse, Aldea, Allegretti, Aretsky's Patron, Bar Blanc Bistro, Bar Boulud, Barbuto Restaurant, Beacon Resturant and Bar, Benoit, BIA, BLT Prime, Bobo, Boqueria Resturant and Buddakan.

Also serving gastronomic delights for a worthy cause were Butter, Clover Club, Corton, Craft, Death & Co., Dovetail, Eighty One, Fatty Crab, Hill Country, II Laboratoria del Gelato and La Fonda del Sol.

Additional restaurants serving tantalizing tidbits of tasty treats were Locanda Verde, Marea, Market Table, Oceana, Payard, Pegu Club, Public, Rouge Tomate New York, Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto, SD26, Shang, SHO Shaun Hergatt, and Wallse.


OCEANA Hosts Celebrity Studded Benefit


The official events sponsors included 901 Silver Tequila, the smooth clean Tequila by Justin Timberlake, Cotes du Rhone, Wines from the Rhone Valley, Pepperidge Farm Bakes Naturals. Participating Sponsors were Blueprint Cleanse, the nutritional Juice Cleanse Company, ECO Countertops by Cosentino, Godiva Chocolatier , Hoegaarden, Leffe and Stella Artois. Media Partners included CHOW.com and LX.New York.

A portion of the evening proceeds benefited City Harvest the world's first food rescue organization and has been serving meals to those without in New York City for over twenty-five years. The event marks the Holiday season drive for City Harvest with continued outreaches throughout Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs.


L’Ecole Serves Sunday Brunch For Charity


Hunger isn't seasonal. City Harvest is available to help those in need every day, 365 days a year. Financial donations are accepted through CityHarvest.org and beginning in December through point of purchase opportunities at Duane Reade. Or join the thousands of business and restaurants who donate prepared food. City Harvest will make all arrangements for pick-up. Direct need donations such as pre-paid gasoline cards, vehicles or any item that is specific to assistant City Harvest address the ever growing hunger epidemic are welcomed. 

It was a successful fun filled evening overflowing with delicious cuisine in an extraordinarily friendly atmosphere benefitting a worthy cause.
