The Amazing Spider-Man, from Marvel Comics, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures presented a global sneak peek of the summer 2012 release at the Century City, California AMC Theaters.
Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man eight minute 3-D trailer jumped from the screen with all the electricity of a sizzling summer lightning storm. The tantalizing teaser was simulcast, around the world, with satellite hook-ups in New York, Rio De Janeiro, London, and Los Angeles. After the introductions the simulcast returned to Los Angeles, AMC Century City, where the audience and selected members of the media were surprised with an extended 2-D sizzle reel.
The Amazing Spider-Man, a Marvel Comics Super Hero, is based on characters created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, takes the audience into the life of a young Peter Parker, a high school news photographer, who takes a stand against sensationalism only to find that honor has no place in contemporary society.
Stepping into the franchise for the first time is Andrew Garfield (Eduardo Saverion, The Social Network) as Peter Parker, as this Spider-Man is a prequel, the love interest is filled by Emma Stone (The Help) who portrays Peter Parker’s high school classmate, Gwen Stacy, the daughter of NYPD tough Cop, George Stacy, played by Denis Leary. Martin Sheen and Sally Field are cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s, blue collar Uncle Ben and his wife, Aunt May. Rhy Iflan doubles at Dr. Curt Connors and Spider-Man’s nemeses, The Lizard.
The Amazing Spider-Man is produced by Avi Arad, Matthew Tolmach and Executive Produced by Stan Lee and Michael Grillo. Music by James Horner. Based on characters by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Amazing Spider-Man was written by Alvin Sargent, Steve Kloves and James Vanderbilt.
