Artist Giovanna Palimodde, transposes the fragrances and refinements of Sardinia, her inspirational muse, and her unconditional love for the history and authenticity of the wild untainted land, to precious works of the highest craftsmanship.

Su Gologone Hotel, Sardinia, Italy, Offers Half Term Getaway

Cushions and runners are transformed into artistic canvases on which embroideries and brushstrokes are printed in a kaleidoscope of colours from indigo to tangerine, grass green, lavender, rose and aqua – all created with pigmentation from the surrounding natural environment.

Palimodde’s artistic flair extends to the creative force behind every room and suite of Su Gologone hotel – each bespoke with unique pieces of furniture embodying Sardinia's tradition and embracing the lives and labours of the island’s weavers, nomadic shepherds and talented artists.

The Su Gologone Style® Art Workshops at the hotel are the artistic temple where Master artisans shape each original piece of Palimodde’s exclusive collection, made of unique and often limited materials including fabrics, ceramics, wooden and wrought-iron artefacts.

Su Gologone Style® Art Workshops are an authentic space in which the Su Gologone Style® brand comes alive and where hotel guests can discover the entire creative process and learn the ancient crafts through an experiential journey into Sardinia’s traditions.

In fact, following high demand and appreciation from guests, art and home décor lovers, Palimodde has decided to use the hotel’s Su Gologone Style® Art Workshops to create a brand of home décor available to those who are unable to visit Su Gologone and spread Sardinia’s art around the world, through an official website set to be launched in early 2018.

The Collection
The pillow line resembles the style and techniques of the traditional art of embroidery of the city of Oliena in which Su Gologone hotel lies. Palimodde creates unique and unrepeatable designs on fabrics, which are then embroidered by the same hands that also create Oliena’s traditional shawls.

Each unique, original piece reflects the aesthetic essence of Sardinia; the intensity of its skies, the heady aromas of myrtle and the yellow helichrysum flower, of juniper and the arbutus or “corbezzolo”, the nuances of the Barbagia mountain colours, and the rock carvings of the Nuragic civilization.

Outstanding among all the Su Gologone Style® collections are painted textiles, with traits and lines representing historic icons of the local culture, such as the ‘mother goddess’, the ‘female pavilion’ and the bull; nuragic symbols that revive the colour-traits represented on brightly coloured cushions and tapestries by Giovanna Palimodde.

“Symbolism and colours combine to recount a Sardinia unknown to many”, says Mrs. Palimodde – “Bright, strong colours that can be found not only in the creative palette but in Sardinia’s sky, in the peonies that bloom in Spring in the Lanaitho Valley, and in the countryside figs. Natural pigments get to become history, archaeology, natural fabrics like cotton, wool, linen, worked on the frame, through our Su Gologone Style® unique creations.”

The Su Gologone Style® collection was previewed with two exclusive events in New York City and Miami Beach earlier in 2017. Su Gologone hotel and the Su Gologone Style® Art Workshops reopen on 23rd March 2018with rates starting at €198 per night, double occupancy, bed and breakfast accommodation in a Classic Room. www.sugologone.it/en
