Janus Films Announces Comprehensive Ingmar Bergman Retrospective For 2018 In Honor Of The Director's Centennial

No name is more synonymous with the postwar explosion of art-house cinema than Ingmar Bergman, a master storyteller who startled the world with his stark intensity and naked pursuit of the most profound metaphysical and spiritual questions.

"[Bergman] worked in a symbolic and emotional language that was serious and accessible. He was young, he was setting an incredible pace, but he was looking at memory, old age, the reality of death, the reality of cruelty. It was so vivid. So dramatic... He's an example to us all," said Director Martin Scorsese.

In a career that spanned six decades, Bergman directed more than forty films in an astonishing array of tones, ranging from comedies whose lightness and complexity betray their brooding hearts to groundbreaking formal experiments and excruciatingly intimate explorations of family relationships. Dates and additional details to be announced soon.
