RISE OF THE GUARDIANS: An Enchanted, Magical, Holiday Adventure from DreamWorks Animation

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, from animation master Jeffrey Katzenberg and the brilliance of DreamWorks, recently held its World Premiere, during the AFI Festival, at the famous Gruman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California.

Directed by Peter Ramsey, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is executive produced by Guillermo del Toro and Michael Siegel and is produced by Nancy Bernstein and Christina Steinberg with Arin Finger serving as Associate Producer. Adapted for the screen by David Linsay-Abaire from the William Joyce classic The Guardians Of Childhood.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, brings to the screen a magical, enchanted adventure tale of the power of truly believing, and stars the voice talent of Chris Pine, as Jack Frost, Alec Baldwin as North aka Santa Claus, Hugh Jackman as E. Aster Bunnymund, Isla Fisher as Tooth, Jude Law as the evil Pitch and Dakota Goyo as Jamie.

The story behind RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is the induction of the newest guardian, Jack Frost. A traveler and free spirit one never knows when Jack will show up. Tossed into this life of whimsical weather wanderer through an unknown force, Frost/Pine is summoned by The Guardians to the North Pole. Jack reluctantly listens to their introductions, revelations, and belief that his destiny is to team with them as the newest Guardian of children everywhere. As the loner of the group, he’s happy creating wintery wonderlands and snow days alone. As it happens, while Jack and the others are meeting, trouble ensues. He is pulled into a fight not his own and with each step, each challenge, each triumph and each disappointment he finds himself and with it his true destiny.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS takes animation to a heightened realm and is captivating from the beginning sequences. The color palette is exquisite! Stunning golden jet trails from the Sandman’s magic explodes across the sky; swirling threads of black tendrils gathering strength in the darkness as Pitch, voiced by Jude Law, matches note for note the Guardians attempts to conquer and forever banish fear to its rightful place.

As with each Guardian a different seasonal color pattern is present from vivid Christmas reds to Easter bonnet blues, neon spring pinks, crisp cool frosty whites, turquoise sea greens, and every imaginable color of the spectrum dances, weaves and blends itself throughout each scene.

Along with the sharp, mind-blowing, and astonishing 3-D images that bounce from the screen, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS has an emotional storyline filled with both heartache and humor.

E. Aster Bunnymund, voiced by Hugh Jackman, is hysterical as the tough and tender protective keeper of the spring holiday.  Quick tempered and deeply caring E. Aster Bunnymund’s tough bunny in the fight over evil is transformed into a pint size cute and cuddly bunny! You just want to pick him up, squezze him, and tickle his baby bunny tummy!  It is truly funny!

Be on the lookout for the Sandman’s golden visions as all fall prey to an out of control blast of inducing sleep sand! And Isla Fisher as Tooth is spectacular! Alec Baldwin, as North, brings a new voice and modern twist to the traditional classic Santa Claus and is the perfect giving the character a combination of naughty and nice!

Dakota Goyo gives life to Jamie and as the story goes, there are moments in this young child’s life, as in every life, that circumstance brings shadows that cast themselves across the mind, and dashes ones hope leaving only a single, small, flicker of belief, of faith. It is a tender moment, one, if all were honest, would admit to passing through at least once.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS has so many standout moments! It is dazzling, genuinely impressive, breathtakingly and very funny film with and even includes a moral to the story: there is no fear you cannot conquer and don’t forget to floss!

Beautifully crafted, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is animation mastery! From the beginning sequences, it’s as if there is a breath of fresh air as beautiful perfect snowflakes pop from the screen. A delightful story with emotional peaks and surprises, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, has something for everyone! The ideal holiday family film, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, from DreamWorks Animation, will be impossible to top! An instant classic!

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS opens everywhere November 21, 2012.
