Beverly Hills Celebrates Chinese New Year

The inaugural Beverly Hills Chinese New Year Celebration began with an invitation only reception at the prestigious LLARDO Rodeo Drive flagship showroom. LLADRO, creators of fine porcelain, designed to commemorate the event two limited editions handcrafted Auspicious Dragon sculptures.

Marked by proclamation of Beverly Hills Mayor Barry Brucker and Vice Mayor William Brein, who was on hand for the event, retailers of The Golden Triangle joined with other dignitaries, celebrities, and representatives of the Chinese community presenting, throughout the evening, salutations and greetings marking The Beverly Hills Chinese New Year Celebration. International Film and Television star Alan Thicke capped the reception and ushered in the traditional Chinese Festivities.

Celebrating The Year of the Dragon Beverly Hills ended with a presentation of the ancient Chinese Lion Dance performed by the East Wind Dance Troupe of Los Angeles, Chinatown Lion Dance and Drum Corps.

The LLADRO showroom, with its collection of hand crafted designed porcelain pieces have a style that initiates or compliments any collection from Americana to Life’s special milestones, memorable moments, exotic ancient Asian and Egyptian Cultural influences each dramatically unique, delicately designed with painstaking precision and all exquisitely beautiful, created the perfect backdrop for the inaugural Beverly Hills Chinese New Year Celebration!

Bouchon, of Beverly Hills, provided catering for the hors d’ oeuvres and Le Grand Courtâge Champagne and including delicious Foie Gras whipped into a airy mousse, with fig, atop rounds and exquisite Pâtéwith Dijon on miniature crisps.

Retailers along the world most luxurious shopping paradise joined in the celebration with special in store offerings and, through gift cards hidden in the gift bags, random winners received exclusive gifts encouraging the event attendees to enjoy any of the local restaurants, participate in the festivities and shop throughout The Golden Triangle.

The Dragon in Chinese Culture has five earth elements believed to temper the Dragon’s personality. Not since 1952 has the Water element accompanied the Dragon Year. Water is known to have many components, tremendous power, force, and tranquility coupled with the Dragon Water is believed to calm the impetuousness and forceful Dragon personality.

After the reception Rodeo Drive, Two Rodeo, and merchants along S. Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire extended their hours to begin the year of prosperity! Retailers from Sprinkles Cupcakes, Van Cleef & Arpels, Scarpetta and Montage Beverly Hills, The Blvd at Beverly Wilshire, LUXE Hotel, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, Bulgaria, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Coach and many others all offered special in house treats along with discounted and special incentives.

Two Rodeo, home to Versace, Porsche Design, Peter Marco Jewelry, and Galeria Michael is also home to artist-in-residence, Alexandre Renoir, great-grandson of impressionist painter Phillipe Auguste Renoir, who to mark the celebration created a one-of-a-kind oil titled Hidden Dragons.
