Romney and Ryan Hit the Campaign Trail; Address Medicare Issues - The Road to the White House - Election 2012 - Week 33

Presumptive Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his VP choice, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, hit the campaign trail separately this week hammering away at the Obama agenda.

According to Gallup, as of August 18, 2012, and for the first time in 33 weeks of tracking, Mitt Romney, has a two percentage point lead over President Obama. Among registered voters President Obama’s national popularity dropped a single percentage point this week to 45% and Mitt Romney’s national popularity gained one percentage point to 47%.

President Obama’s current overall ratings, according to Gallup, gained two single percentage points over the past week to 45% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness dropped a single percentage point to 49%.

Ryan, who remains both Wisconsin representative and Chairman of the House Budget Committee, joined the campaign trail focusing on democratic strongholds. In swing state Florida he showed up with his Mom, Betty Ryan, 78, to pitch the GOP Medicare plan to seniors who are faced with uncertain Medicare options if Obamacare remains in place.

Across the board, according to Gallup, President Obama continues to score very low marks on his handling of the economic woes and subsequent issues. Scoring high marks for his effective in combating global terror while important, the majority of Americans find it just isn’t enough to balance out the deepening traumatic stress associated with the economic uncertainty many Americans face.

Job numbers again plague the Obama administration as seasonally unadjusted numbers have the unemployment rate inching higher to 8.3% making August the 42nd straight month of unemployment numbers higher than 8%. An additional 17% of American are underemployed, with a vast number of Americans, 46%, indicate they are struggling financially.

Polls workers around the country are recording record numbers of new registered voters, the grass roots effort to ensure that every voice is heard is bringing people, who have never voted into the polling place.

Harvard Educated with both an MBA and Law degree, Romney is known for his business acumen and balance sheet savvy skills, and Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, respected by his peers and it has been said that no one in Washington knows the budget as extensively. The Romney/Ryan agenda is clear: hammer home the disastrous economic conditions for the majority of Americans with a simple effective message.

The Republican National Convention, where delegates will be officially conferred to the candidates and where Mitt Romney will be designated the Republican Presidential Nominee will take place in Tampa Bay, Florida, August 27-30, 2012.

The Democratic National Convention will take place in Charlotte North Carolina, September 3 -6, 2012.
