France, Germany Announce Second National Quarantine

French President Emmanuel Macron announced, in a televised address to the nation, on October 30, they would return to a second shutdown as the expected second wave of the coronavirus had spiked across the country.

According to Eturbonews.com, Macron said, "I decided that from Friday the quarantine regime will be restored, which previously helped to contain the virus," Macron said. According to the French president, the quarantine in the country will last until December 1."

He further added the spike in Coronavirus cases around the nation was higher than even the "most pessimistic forecasts did not foresee. The number of people infected in relation to the total population has doubled in one week."

"Nearly half of the world's new daily coronavirus cases are now occurring in Europe, with Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic among those European countries reporting new records in their numbers of daily cases. Switzerland and Slovenia also reported their highest daily increases in infections yet, while Russia and Ukraine reported their highest daily death tolls.
