From Morocco to Los Angeles Seven of the Most Anticipated Hotel Openings for 2019

As the new year opens, the world-renowned design firm HKS, has revealed its magnificent slate of luxurious properties expected to welcome guests throughout 2019 with well-appointed grand suites in unique and exotic destinations throughout the world.

 

Many of these properties are destinations in themselves, some might introduce you to a new neighborhood in one of your favorite cities, while others will bring you to far-flung locales waiting to be explored.


Camelback Inn Resort & Spa Review - Epitomizes Southwest Hospitality, Charm and Beauty


As you plan your travels here are seven of the most anticipated hotel for 2019.

hClub, Los Angeles, California  

Founded by philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, Paul G Allen, and musician Dave Stewart, h Club is expanding from its original location in London with a new members-only experience in Los Angeles.

The HKS-designed club will feature 5-stories of dining, working, hotel and entertainment space that will cater for the needs of members and their guests. Supporting the creative community, h Club Los Angeles will serve as the place to connect, collaborate and create.

With 36-bedrooms and amenities like a rooftop restaurant, outdoor pool deck and co-working spaces the property in the heart of Hollywood the design nods to those who traverse the world and share knowledge gleaned from adventure, it will encompass five floors designed to host and nurture creativity. Opening in early 2019.

Fairmont Tagazour Morocco, Agadir, Morocco 

Situated on a swathe of pristine beachfront along the Atlantic coast, the Fairmont Morocco will be part of the 1,500-acre Taghazout Bay seaside resort. Demonstrating a contemporary architectural expression new to this region of Morocco, the HKS-designed resort is opening Spring 2019.

Its design tells a story about the transient nature of the site, from the time-honored farming and weaving communities of the Imazighen, also known as Berbers, who were the first known inhabitants of northwest Africa, to the modern-day ‘Agadirens’ seeking leisure and relaxation.

The semi-nomadic Imazighen, which translates as ‘free people’, would seek shelter and water amongst the rugged natural surrounds according to the change in seasons, whereas today, holiday makers desire the solitude and thrill of surfing the waves year-round.

 

The property will feature 150 spacious guest-rooms and suites with sea-facing views in addition to 52 Fairmont-branded luxury waterfront villas. Opening spring 2019. 

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Hotel and Boulevard, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Stretched out along Punta Cana’s beautiful beaches, this much-anticipated waterfront property is going to be huge. Literally. Inspired by the Costa Meloneras Resort in the Canary Islands, Costa Bavaro is designed to have a commanding presence upon arrival, then move elegantly into meticulously landscaped courtyards with native flora and fauna interlaced with long finger-pools.

5-star amenities satisfy those with discerning tastes, and beach lovers enjoy direct access and front-row views from myriad oceanfront experiences. Perfectly positioned in the drift of the trade winds and caught between the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea, the interiors are inspired by a blend of diverse cultures.


CLIFT San Francisco Hotel Review - Contemporary Elegance, Old World Charm


The deep influence of European colonists and indigenous people evokes feelings of something new yet familiar. Designed by HKS, this 1020-room, 230,000 property will include an arcade, casino, disco, escape room, bowling center, 600-seat outdoor theatre, three specialty restaurants, five cafes/quick bites, retail, spa, salon, gym and kid’s club/teen’s club round out the perks. Opening May 2019.

Live! By Loews Texas, Arlington, Texas

The new flagship Live! by Loews - Arlington, TX hotel at Texas Live! will be the first of its kind in the country, providing guests an unprecedented upscale experience that blends sports and entertainment with first-class hospitality and superior amenities.

The result of two powerhouse brands of Loews Hotels & Co. and The Cordish Companies’ Live! brand, Live! by Loews will anchor Texas Live! in the heart of the Arlington Entertainment District between the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Park and the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. 

Designed by internationally-acclaimed HKS, the 14-story tall contemporary glass tower will feature 302 luxury guest rooms, including 26 suites, with floor to ceiling glass windows that show off incredible, expansive views of the entertainment district from each room. Step through the porthole into an alternate universe of sophisticated fun and the art of the game.

Calistogo Rennovation by HKS Associates

Rising from the rich and fertile plains, LIVE! by Loews is deeply rooted in the Traditions of Texas; strength, character, authenticity, grit, courage and a warm Welcome! The 280,000 Square Foot convention hotel also includes 21,000 square feet of meeting space, a 5,000 square foot brewery, signature restaurant and lounge bar, with another 8,000 square feet of outdoor event space with covered terrace bar and pool.

The project is part of a greater $1.25 billion vision for the Arlington stadium district that features a new Rangers ballpark. Opening August 2019. 

Distil Moxy Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky

Inspired by Downtown Louisville’s rich history, the Distil Hotel will transform one of the city’s most significant urban corner sites from a parking lot into a destination for travelers and locals alike. Maintaining the existing Civil War-era freestanding facades was a primary design goal for the project.

Gaylord Rockies Hotel and Convention Center by HKS Associates

Treating these like a museum piece from decades long past, it was critical to imbue a sense of honor and respect with the introduction of a new architectural development, designed by HKS. Great care was taken to keep them approachable and visible from a multitude of perspectives and vantage points for every guest.


The Boulders Resort and Golden Door Spa - Luxurious, Soothing, Carefree Comfort


To further root the project with historical context, cues have been taken from Main Street’s cast iron facades and its bourbon-making past to inspire and define the material palate. Embracing and celebrating Louisville’s authentic historic qualities in a new and forward-thinking way, the Distil Hotel will be a catalyst to the city’s future growth, with a respectful nod to its past. Opening September 2019.

The Otis Hotel, Austin, Texas

2019 brings the unveiling the brand new, HKS-designed, Autograph Collection and AC: dual-branded luxury hotels that capture the spirit of Austin.

As a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the new hotel will encourage guests to roam from the beaten path for an experience that is boldly independent and wholly luxurious. Highlights include a 4,000 square-foot rooftop deck — complete with outdoor pool, bar and terrace — that will deliver spectacular views of the University of Texas campus.


Amari Havodda Maldives - The Perfect Island Retreat


AC will also add to the University of Texas area by providing a premium hotel experience that the community craves. It will serve business and leisure travelers alike with a lobby-level bar and lounge, multi-function space with light dining and coffee.

The hotels will provide a combined 347 rooms, 6,500 square feet of meeting space, and a full-service restaurant with outdoor seating and casual walk-up options. Opening Fall 2019. 

HALL Arts Hotel, Dallas, Texas 

Rising 8-stories in the Dallas Art District, HALL Arts Hotel will be the preeminent luxury hotel in Dallas, with uncompromising class and exceptional elegance. The urban 183-key hotel, with surrounding views of Pritzker Prize-winning architecture, such as the Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre, HALL Arts Hotel provides a unique opportunity to stay in the cultural center of Dallas.

Designed by HKS, the hotel will featuring contemporary art throughout the common spaces and guest rooms that are meant to inspire visitors. With a bar and elevated pool deck, the hotel is more than just good looks, it’s also sustainable, targeting LEED Gold certification. Opening in Fall 2019.
