Moscow International Film Festival Announces Jury and Films (ENG/RU)

On April 6, the first official press conference of the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival, which will take place from 22 to 29 April, was held at the Moscow hotel "standard" where Jury and Films were announced.

It was attended by: program director of the Moscow International Film Festival, film critic Kirill Razlogov, director of public relations of the festival Pyotr Shepotinnik, curator of the Free Thought program and the Documentary Film Competition Grigory Libergal, chairman of the selection committee of the Moscow International Film Festival Andrei Plakhov, member of the selection committee Evgenia Tirdatova and general director Moscow International Film Festival Natalya Semina.

At the press conference, the jury members of the festival were announced, as well as the films included in the main competition and the documentary film competition. In addition, details of out-of-competition programs have become known.

Talking about what the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival will be like, Kirill Razlogov noted that it will be held in the same mode as a year ago: a significant part will be organized offline, but some of the films will be presented online by their creators. The Rospotrebnadzor restrictions on occupancy, as well as on the entrance to cinemas and stay at the festival sites, will also remain.

The jury of the main competition of the MIFF this year included Filipino film director, cameraman and producer Briyante Mendoza (chairman of the jury), Brazilian director Karim Ainuz , Serbian actor Milos Bikovich , Russian composer Yuri Poteeenko , director and screenwriter Nigina Sayfullaeva (Russia).

The festival will be opened by Timur Bekmambetov's war film " Devyatayev " about the feat of the Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyatayev. The main roles in the film were played by Pavel Priluchny, Pavel Chinarev, Alexey Filimonov, Daria Zlatopolskaya and others.

Introducing the chairman of the main jury of the Moscow International Film Festival, Kirill Razlogov pointed out that Mendoza is one of the largest Filipino directors. “He is one of the brightest representatives of the new Filipino cinema,” he said.

Then he, together with Pyotr Shepotinnik and Andrey Plakhov, announced the participants in the main competition.
