From Cannes: Susan Sarandon Cast In John Krokidas' "Tunnels" For Highland Film Group

Highland Film Group announced today that Academy Award® winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, "Feud,") will star in John Krokidas' (Kill Your Darlings) Tunnels. The screenplay is written by Victoria Rose (The Time Capsule, Brimming with Love).

Colin Bates (Maggie) and Michael Jefferson (Blame) will produce under the Lucidity Entertainment banner with Ethan Terra and Cindy Bru serving as executive producers. Lucidity Entertainment is currently in production on Son of the South.

Circle of Confusion's Matt Smith (Maleficent) and Brad Mendelsohn (Rim of the World) will produce along with Circle of Confusion's Frank Frattaroli, who will executive produce. Circle of Confusion is the management and production company behind AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead." Highland Film Group is handling international sales which will launch in Cannes.

In the wake of a school shooting, an unlikely friendship develops between Ruby Love (Sarandon), the grandmother who raised the shooter, and Grayson Mitchell, the teenage brother of one of the victims, when paired to work together at the local supermarket.

Sarandon is an Academy Award® winning actress, with an extensive list of credits including Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking, Step Mom, Bill Durham, A Bad Moms Christmas and more recently the TV series "Ray Donovan," and "Feud."

Tunnels marks Rose's debut feature, following recent inclusion on the Hollywood "Young and Hungry" list.
