12 Years A Slave and Gravity Soar At Final Draft Annual Awards

Los Angeles, Calif.; January 7, 2014 - Final Draft, Inc., the industry standard for screenwriting software, tonight announced the winners for its Screenwriters Choice Awards, honoring the writers of films and shows produced in 2013.

The winners were crowned at the ninth Final Draft Annual Awards held January 7, 2014, at the Paramount Theatre at Paramount Pictures Studio. Also honored at the ceremony were Hall of Fame honoree writer/director/producer Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give, The Parent Trap), and the winners of the Final Draft Big Break Contest.

Tonight’s event marks the second year for the Screenwriters Choice Awards. The recognition is unique because the awards are bestowed as a result of a worldwide, open forum for Final Draft users, who voted for the category winners after a committee of working screenwriters compiled this year’s nominations in the categories of Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best TV Comedy, and Best TV Drama.

Modern Family — Steven Levitan, Christopher Lloyd (series creators) (winner)

Arrested Development - Mitchell Hurwitz (series creator)

Girls - Lena Dunham (series creator)

Parks and Recreation - Greg Daniels, Michael Schur (series creators)

Veep - Armando Iannucci (series creator)

 

Best Television Drama:
