One of the first photographers featured is Dorothea Lange, (1895-1965) drawn with the bulky, oversized, toddler sized box, known as the camera in 1865 and went one to captures some of the most iconic images of the transformation of history in America, from World War II images to the 1930's Great Depression in the 1930's and the ravages of the plain's states Dust Bowl. Her images are featured in many museums and art galleries across American.

Carrie Mae Weems, (1953) creator of the Kitchen Table Series, is the first African American women to have a retrospective of her work featured at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

Imogen Cunningham, (1883-1976) known as the grandmother of photography, began taking pictures of the plants in her backyard, and this transformed into a career as a celebrated botanist photographer. She championed the cause to have photography recognized as an artform.
