Bleecker Street to Release the Zellner Brothers' "Sasquatch Sunset"

Bleecker Street announced they will release Sasquatch Sunset from directing duo David and Nathan Zellner ("The Curse"). Riley Keough, Jesse Eisenberg, Nathan Zellner, and Christophe Zajac-Denek star in the film, which is currently in post-production.

Bleecker Street came onto the film for the U.S. in 2022 shortly before its under-the-radar shoot in Northern California.

Sasquatch Sunset is a Square Peg, ZBI, and The Space Program production and produced by Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone, Nathan Zellner, David Zellner, George Rush, Jesse Eisenberg, and David Harari, with acclaimed director Ari Aster serving as an executive producer alongside Riley Keough and Gina Gammell under their Felix Culpa Banner. Bleecker Street will release the film theatrically in 2024.

Written by David Zellner, Sasquatch Sunset is described as "A year in the life of a singular family," with additional plot details currently being kept under wraps. The deal was negotiated by Kent Sanderson and Avy Eschenasy on behalf of Bleecker Street with producer George Rush on behalf of the filmmakers. Protagonist Pictures is representing the international sales rights.

Filmmaking brothers David and Nathan Zellner have made a name for themselves with their unique, boundary-pushing storytelling and cinematic style. Their collaborations are marked by dark humor and unconventional themes and characters. Their short film "Sasquatch Birth Journal 2" premiered at Sundance in 2011 and was nominated for the Sundance Short Filmmaking Award. They both can be found behind as well as in front of the camera, with David having recently acted in Riley Stearns' The Art of Self-Defense for Bleecker Street in 2019, alongside Jesse Eisenberg, which the Zellners also executive produced. David was also nominated for Best Director at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in 2015 for Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter. Sasquatch Sunset will mark their eighth feature project together.

Emmy, Golden Globe, and Independent Spirit Award nominee Riley Keough is one of Hollywood's most sought-after multi-hyphenates, known for her chameleon-like versatility that spans blockbuster hits to independent films. She is best known for her performances in "Daisy Jones and the Six" as the iconic titular role, for which she also received an Emmy nomination, "The Girlfriend Experience," Zola, and American Honey. With Gina Gammell, Keough is a co -founder of production company Felix Culpa, which is dedicated to telling bold, boundary-pushing, and emotionally rich stories that challenge audiences to see the world differently while giving a voice to talent and stories that need to be heard. Keough made her directorial debut alongside Gammell with the critically acclaimed War Pony, winning the Camera D'Or award at Cannes and becoming a New York Times Critics Pick. Under Felix Culpa, Keough has produced numerous films and TV series, most recently the upcoming "Under the Bridge," in which she will also star.

Jesse Eisenberg is an Academy Award nominated actor, most recently seen in FX's "Fleishman Is In Trouble."  Films include The Art of Self Defense, The Double, The Squid and the Whale, The End of the Tour, Night Moves, The Social Network, Adventureland and the Now You See Me and Zombieland franchises.  As a writer/director, Eisenberg made his debut with A24's When You Finish Saving The World, which premiered at Sundance and Cannes Critic's Week.  His upcoming film, A Real Pain, stars Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as estranged cousins on a Polish heritage tour.  As a playwright, Eisenberg has written the plays Asuncion, The Revisionist, which starred Vanessa Redgrave, The Spoils, which played in New York and on the West End and, most recently, Happy Talk.  He is also a contributor to the New Yorker Magazine.


Saban Films Acquires U.S. Rights to Michael Keaton Thriller "Knox Goes Away"

Christophe Zajac-Denek's credits include Ike 'The Spike' Stadtler in David Lynch's "Twin Peaks: The Return" alongside frequent Lynch collaborators Kyle MacLachlan, Naomi Watts, and Laura Dern. He performed stunts, choreography, and drove a team of horses in "Oz The Great and Powerful." He has played various principal comedic characters in "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and supporting roles in ABC's "Fresh Off the Boat," Tales of Halloween, and Lemon. Standing On Water, a documentary about Christophe's life, surfing, and dwarfism, has won awards and nominations at several film festivals. Christophe also has hosted and produced a podcast called "I'm Kind Of A Big Deal" which focuses on authentically showcasing the lives of little people.
