San Jose Stage Company (Randall King, Artistic Director and Cathleen King, Executive Director) is pleased to announce BEYOND THE BOARDS, a virtual series of conversations between our Artistic Director, Randall King and leading artists in our community and beyond.

These weekly chats will take you behind the scenes of the powerful, provocative, and profound work you see at The Stage. Through these discussions we hope to give you an in-depth look at the creative process and how these important collaborations contribute to shaping our communities and the “New American Theatre.


London/NY/LA Theatre: The Play That Goes Wrong Review – Uproarious, Laugh Out Loud Funny


Featured artists will include L. Peter Callender, Howard Swain, Herbert Siguenza, Julian Lopez-Morillas, Judith Miller, and Ray Yeates. Segments will be available Thursday, May 28, 2020 at www.thestage.org/beyond-the-boards.

SF Arts: Aimee Friberg Announces Inaugural Exhibition with fused space: 'Record of Succession'


The Stage is devoted to new, cutting-edge work and re-envisioned American literature and world classics using innovative stagecraft, multi-media that propels the narrative, and accomplished, local actors in true repertory style. With the farthest seat in the house no more than 15 feet from the three-quarter thrust stage, the connection between actor and audience is profoundly visceral.

Attracting more than 30,000 patrons to downtown and employing more than 150 local artists annually, San Jose Stage Company continues to be a vital force in the region’s economic and creative landscape. As a strong community partner, The Stage has been the creative home for more than 500 performance groups including San Jose Jazz and Notre Dame High School - working together to engage, provoke, and inspire current and future theatre participants and arts advocates.

The Stage is a multi-award-winning theatre company having received numerous accolades including the 2018 Paine Knickerbocker Award for continued contributions to Bay Area theatre from the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle.   • New York Film Critics Circle Announce New Member

    The New York Film Critics Circle announced it will be adding a new member, Ryan Lattanzio (IndieWire), to vote for the 2025 awards on December 2, 2025. Lattanzio's addition brings the number of active members to 47.  

  • The Oscars® Set to Air Live March 10 On ABC

    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will host live Oscars® viewing parties in New York and London exclusively for its members and invited film industry guests. Additionally, the Academy Museum will host its viewing party.

  • APD’s Cinema Conservancy Presents “Stations of the Elevated” To Premiere At Bamcinemafest

    (New York, NY) - APD's Cinema Conservancy program is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Stations of the Elevated (1981), a 45-minute independent documentary directed, produced and edited by Manfred Kirchheimer, in a new restoration. Shot over the course of 1977 on lush 16mm color reversal stock, the film weaves together vivid images of elevated subway trains crisscrossing New York City's gritty urban landscape. With a complex soundtrack that combines the ambient sounds of the city with the music of Charles Mingus and Aretha Franklin, the film is an impressionistic portrait of and tribute to a New York that has long since disappeared.
