Brussels Arts: Galerie Templon Announces Reopening, Two Exhibitions

Galerie Templon reopened it gallery in Brussels yesterday, Tuesday 12 May, and has extended Jim Dine's exhibition "The Classic Prints" until Saturday 23 May and announced the upcoming exhibition of New York painter Will Cotton.

For his return to Galerie Templon's Brussels space after six years, Jim Dine, one of the most significant American artists of his generation, is presenting a retrospective look at his print work, an art that he has become recognized over the years as one of the greatest masters.

Drawing on sculpture, painting, printmaking, and photography, he developed an original language, partly abstract, partly figurative, haunted by a distinctive iconography formed by antique figures, tools, hearts, or Pinocchio's.

Upcoming at the space in Brussels is Will Cotton's "The Taming of the Cowboy" from 28 May to 31 July.

In a nod to his country's political schizophrenia in the midst of the electoral campaign, Will Cotton offers a new take on the myth of the cowboy, symbolizing the conquest of the West. His large, ostensibly, classical oil paintings portray a surprising encounter between triumphant cowboys and their fantastical steeds: ink unicorns.
