Company Partners with Music Streaming Service Rdio for “Custom Playlist” Promotions, will Launch Webseries "Music By Waddy, Lyrics By Danny"

LOS ANGELES (September 26, 2014) – XLrator Media announced the launch of a unique multi-layered content marketing initiative to reach "core-music fans" who will make up a large percentage of its opening weekend audience and box office take for JIMI: ALL IS BY MY SIDE, opening in theaters September 26, 2014.


"As a company that's as excited about Record Store Day each year as Oscar Night, it's critical that our messaging to the music community and longtime Jimi Hendrix fans is pure and authentic," said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon. "We knew we had an obligation to explain to this highly-informed group why there are no original Hendrix masters used in the film, yet proudly share the high-quality, curated music experience they will enjoy in theatres with JIMI: ALL IS BY MY SIDE."

In leveraging a combination of "old-school" music business tactics and savvy, coupled with new digital sampling and communications platforms, the company brought on some extra firepower to help architect and execute its message in strategic digital marketing.  Consultant and music industry veteran David Hazan, and indie music PR firm Rock Paper Scissors were also soon added to the team.  Via direct outreach, the team created a network of the top independent record/vinyl stores and musical instrument retailers in each of the film's opening markets to help promote the film to their customers.  A network of regional key music and lifestyle bloggers were also plugged into each opening market. These blogs have hosted interviews with the film's musical talent and have been provided with "customized Rdio playlists" for their readers who, with a click, can actually listen to the music they are reading about.

Rdio is a digital music streaming service that provides on-demand access to over 30 million songs. Rdio makes it easy to search for and instantly play any song, album, artist, or playlist, and is reinventing the way people discover, listen to, and share music.
