Seriesfest Announces Season 6 Dates and Opens Submissions

SeriesFest, the nation's premier episodic festival, has announced the dates for its sixth season, opening June 18 and closing on June 24, 2020. The festival has also opened its competitions and spotlight submissions through its website at seriesfest.com.

"We are excited to announce our Season 6 dates, with some new ways for creators to engage with the program in 2020," says SeriesFest Founder and CEO, Randi Kleiner. "Alongside our Independent Pilot, Digital Short Series and Late Night Competitions, we will be opening entries for the first time for our annual Pitch-A-Thon!, as well as new programs, including both a Storytellers Initiative and a Creators Spotlight, exclusively for college students to highlight the next generation of creative voices."

The annual SeriesFest takes place in Denver, Colorado—the birthplace of cable television—with a Centerpiece celebration at Red Rocks Amphitheater and five full days of in-competition screenings, panels, network sneak-peeks, and premieres. SeriesFest gives a platform for compelling and creative content while celebrating television history and engaging in meaningful dialogue with audiences, creators and executives. Notable guests from Season 5 include Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Smits, Olivia Munn, Ted Sarandos, Usher, Jermaine Dupri, JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers.

Submissions are now open at SeriesFest (seriesfest.com) for the following categories:

INDEPENDENT PILOT COMPETITION (IPC)
Pilots are in competition for jury and audience awards, along with cash prizes. IPC accepts pilots in the following categories: Drama, Comedy, Unscripted, and Animated. Submissions for IPC are accepted through FilmFreeway.

LATE NIGHT COMPETITION
SeriesFest's Late Night Competition is defined as live action or animated programs with a total runtime of 4–15 minutes featuring the strange, absurd, comedic or sketch style content. Submissions for Late Night Competition are accepted through FilmFreeway.

DIGITAL SHORTS COMPETITION
Some of the most innovative storytelling now resides in the digital space. SeriesFest is looking to find and honor exciting new digital series with episodes under 15 minutes. Submissions for Digital Shorts are accepted through FilmFreeway.

PITCH-A-THON!
For the first time ever, SeriesFest's annual Pitch-A-Thon! is open for submissions! Independent content creators will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive live pitch session at SeriesFest: Season 6 with top television, new media and digital executives in the hopes of moving their projects—and careers—forward. Submissions in this category are strictly limited to projects in the script phase (un-produced). Submissions for Pitch-a-Thon! are accepted through FilmFreeway

STORYTELLERS INITIATIVE: COLLEGIATE WRITING COMPETITION
SeriesFest is thrilled to launch the sixth edition of the Storytellers Initiative! This season we are looking to discover creative, fresh writers at the collegiate level. What excites us most for Season 6 is the opportunity to explore series' with a strong point of view and bold characters from the next generation of storytellers. In order to qualify, interested writers must be enrolled in a college or university program and are encouraged to submit pilot scripts with episodes running between 15–30 minutes. Submissions for Storytellers are accepted through Coverfly.


TNT Renews Powerhouse Drama Animal Kingdom for Season Five

COLLEGIATE CREATORS SPOTLIGHT
SeriesFest is opening up its Independent Pilot search to collegiate and university students nationwide. Students submitting must be currently enrolled in a university or college program. Submissions will be accepted for pilots between 18–60 minutes in length in any of the following categories: Drama, Comedy, Unscripted, and Animated. Submissions for Collegiate Creators Spotlight are accepted through FilmFreeway.

Submissions have closed for the 2019 Women Writing Competition presented in collaboration with Kyra Sedgwick's Big Swing Productions. Winners will be announced spring 2020.
