Ten Top Gourmet Food Shops and Eating Establishments in the Latin Quarter Revealed

Stepping into a Paris restaurant can be a formidable experience for any traveler. Not only do you have to make your wishes understood by a waiter who may or may not speak your language, but you must quickly learn how to adapt to local dining customs as well.

Tom Reeves' extraordinary new book, Dining Out in Paris, packs years of dining experience and street savvy knowledge into a handy guide that will ensure that every time you enter a Parisian restaurant you can have a wonderful dining experience.

For example, Americans are accustomed to entering into restaurants to dine as early as 5:00 p.m., whereas in France, most restaurants don't open until 7:00 p.m. or later.

The American diner is also accustomed to having his plate whisked away from the table as soon as he has finished the course. In France, most waiters delay until the entire party has finished the course before plates are cleared.

Dining Out in Paris is a helpful guide that teaches the ins and outs of the Parisian dining experience and identifies ten top places to eat in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Reeves also goes into lavish detail describing why each eating establishment has captured the hearts of all who visit.

Although listing a "Top 10" of the hundreds of places to dine in the Latin Quarter is as much an exercise in folly as creating a "Top 10 Works of Literature," here are just a few of his favorites and a description of some of the mouthwatering culinary delights that can be experienced.

About the Author

Tom Reeves has been a confirmed Francophile since he first took an unpaid sabbatical in 1975 to travel to France to learn the language, see the country, and pursue a diploma in French language, literature, and civilization.  Returning to California in 1978, he eventually realized that while he had left France, France had never left him.  He moved back permanently in 1992.

Reeves' love of French language and culture inspired him to create Discover Paris!, a travel service that caters to Americans interested in cultural travel to Paris.  His first book, Paris Insights – An Anthology, has been called "the kind of insider's view of the French capital…that visitors pine for."
