Four Dead, Nine Injured in Louisville Mass Shooting: Second Shooting Unfolds Hours Later

An early morning mass shooting at the Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky left four dead and nine injured and was followed by a second unrelated shooting on a local community college campus that left one dead.

The Old National Bank, the scene of the initial shooting unfolded at 8:30am EST, when the suspect, Connor Sturgeon, 23, who died of injuries related to the shooting, entered the building, and proceeded to a conference room. Exact details surrounding the shooter's connection to the bank are still unclear, although it has been reported that he was a current employee. Although, his position and duties have not been revealed.


Six Dead in Nashville School Shooting


A video tape has been released which begins with three loud firecracker booms, and officers running through the downtown Louisville area, warning motorist to leave their cars and shouting, "active shooter, leave your cars."

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who addressed media early in the day, told reporters that two of his close friends were killed by the shooter and a third was in critical condition. Of those remaining victims being treated at the University of Louisville medical center is Louisville Police Office, Nicolas Wilt, 26.

Beshear, was emotional as he explained "he lost close personal friends" in today's tragedy. A client of the bank, the governor was not in the area at the time of the shooting and was not the target although he knew three of the victims personally.


Highland Park Mass Shooter Charged


"Nine people, including two police officers, were treated for injuries at UofL Health, hospital spokesperson Heather Fountaine said in an email. One of the two injured police officers remained in critical condition early Monday afternoon, Fountaine said, and three people had been discharged," The Washington Post reported.

The murdered victims, three men James Tutt, 64, Joshua Barrick, 40, Thomas Elliot, 63 and one female Juliana Farmer, 57 and critically injured in the attack Louisville Police Officer Nicolas Wilt, 26.

The motive behind the early Monday morning mass shooting has not yet been revealed. Police are continuing to investigate.

The second shooting in Louisville occurred less than three hours after shots rang out in the downtown, when multiple suspects killed a single victim at the Jefferson Community and Technical College Campus and injured another victim. Those suspects have eluded capture and are presumably in the Louisville area.

Louisville Police spokesperson have indicated that while the shooters responsible for the Jefferson Community and Technical college are still at large, and considered armed and dangerous the shooting was not part of a larger aggressive active event.
