The Road Between Us Review – Harrowing True Story of Rescue

The Road Between Us, from Forston Consulting, brings to the screen a traumatic true story of a father's search for his son and his family in the wake of the October 7, 2023 Israeli kibbutz terrorist attack.

The documentary begins with a brief introduction from the most trust man in media, Edward R. Murrow, who explains how the Israeli nation was formed. We also know that at the same time, the Arabs, or Palestinians, also were given a portion of land, known as the Gaza Strip, this region has been one incident away from war, from the day the two nations were formed. This introduction also includes the explanation on the Kibbutz, the common communities, which were built in southern Israel.

Mr. Blake at Your Service Review – Excellent, A Delightfully Charming Feel Good Film

After this introduction, we meet Amir and Miri Tibon who explain how they both desired the Kibbutz life, and the Nir Oz Kibbutz was this idyllic place of peace and tranquility, even though it was just a short distance from the Gaza border. And it is obvious it was a peaceful farming community, filled with families who wanted to thrive and grow and raise their children in this lifestyle.

The morning of October 7, 2023, Amir begins to explain, as in the past the sirens went off, and this had happened before, and usually like a fire drill, as each house had a saferoom, you would go in the saferoom, lock the door, and barricade the window with the steel shutters. When the warnings sound, this all must be done quickly, and if the shutters are not closed by the time the electricity is turned off, then the occupants will be vulnerable to attack.

On October 7, Amir and Miri quickly made it to the safe room, closed the shutters, and with their two young daughters, did as they had in every drill, they stayed absolutely silent. However, unlike every other drill, on this day, there was a buildup of shouting and random shooting. That when Amir and Miri understood, today is the day, they have breached the border, and we could die.

So, like most of us, whom do we text when we are in need? Usually our parents, and Amir did the same. Only his father was IDF retired General Noam Tibon, who lived in Tel Aviv, who along with his wife, Gali were doing their normal morning routine. When he return to his phone, he read the texts, he switched in mission mode and was ready to go. To hear Gali explain, she was not going to wait at home, as she knew her husband would need to be free to text and use his pistol if needed. So, she explained, she was also going. The drive on a normal day should take 90 minutes.

On this day, once they began getting closer to the breach points, local police had begun to set up road blocks and even the retired General was unable to get past.

This is when, by chance, as they were sitting on the side of the road deciding what to do, a couple ran from the trees, and they explained they were from the Nova Music Festival, and unbeknownst to them at the time, the lucky ones.

Queen of the Ring Review – Bio-Pic Delivers Strong, Unforgettable, Performances, A Must See

Throughout the documentary footage taken by the Hamas terrorist through body cameras is fed into the film. And distressing and shocking scenes from the Nova Music festival, as the party goers filmed the terrorist parachuting into the area, and they were dropping in on motorized stripped down over-terrain-vehicles, two to a vehicles and immediately begin racing through the crowds spraying bullets into the crowd. Through the chaos, it was clear the reactions were a combination of frozen in fear, desperation, and immediate action. Those that acted immediately, many escaped the initial attack, but were later killed when they were sheltering, believing they were safe. For our two survivors, Noam and Gali were still on a mission to save their family, and after a brief care and cool down moment, they made sure they were safe and returned to the primary mission.

And still they had not seen any military, as Miri and Amir, explain the military told them they would be safe, that a butterfly could not cross through the fences separating Israel without being detected. Now, as hours had gone by and they were still sitting in the darkened room, silent, and hearing the terrorist in their home, they realized they were lied to and today, this moment, could be the last. And as we see, he texted his parents a last message.

The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue is a must see documentary. With raw footage, and disturbing scenes, some taken from surveillance cameras, others from the body cams of the terrorists, the documentary provides a first person view of the day, and the loss. It also highlight the delayed response time, the gaps in the military walls, and the human toll and egregious and irreversible tragedies.

The documentary also retraces every step of that day, blending intimate firsthand testimony with the raw urgency of a survival thriller and filled in with the footage, presents a clear view of what many have never seen. Relying only on his instincts and military training, Noam navigated ambushes, roadblocks, and a collapsing security system in a relentless race against time, while Gali served as a transport to save the wounded from death.

For this one bright spot, the day is filled with thousands of moments of sorrow, and even now, as those who lost loved ones try to rebuild the scars are still too fresh to move forward. As Sharon Fiorentino, who lost her hero husband, said, "Maybe someday."
