Lady Chatterley’s Lover Review - Sensuous, Passionate, Provocative

Lady Chatterley's Lover, from Netflix films, brings to the screen a story of two definitive sides of love, an alluring, intoxicating, passion, and the deep unfathomable rote emptiness that it can become when it is lost forever.

The film begins with the wedding of Sir Clifford Chatterley, played by Matthew Duckett, and Connie Reid, played by Emma Corrin. Not just any marriage Connie has married into privilege, a life of wealth assured as she takes the title of Lady Chatterley. With only one day before Clifford is shipped off the front lines, the two briefly enjoy marriage pleasures and he leaves the next morning.

The film fast forwards, the war is over, Lady Chatterley and Sir Clifford are arriving at their Castle, which will be their permanent home. As he explains how happy she will be there, the audiences doesn't realize, until she helps him from the car, that he is paralyzed and will never walk again.

As Connie, still young and vibrant, busies herself with the home, they decide to hire a staff. Clifford hires the men, groundkeepers, gamekeeper and others and Connie, the domestic staff.

Soon the house is buzzing with people, and Clifford able to hold court, invites all his gentlemen friends from London to visit, dine, and talk of politics. Not realizing he is treating his wife as his caregiver, he becomes dismissive with her and refuses, due to his own injuries, to even concern himself with her wellbeing.

The Swimmers Review – Strong Character Driven True Story Delivers

As Clifford, oblivious to anything other than his work, decides Lady Chatterley should take a lover to bear him a son, of course, no one could know, and they should be dropping hints. She is shocked, and wounded, that he would suggest that she should prostitute herself for his heir.

At her wits end, she begins to take walks on the estate. One day, as Sir Clifford asks her to speak with Oliver Mellors, played by Jack O'Connell, she stumbles upon him in an outdoor shower. Still Lady of the Manor she waits until he is inside before knocking and essentially refusing to leave until he invites her into his cottage.

Day after day her long afternoon walks now include stopping at the gamekeeper's cottage until one day, she is unable to deny herself any longer. This leads into the second act as the two become lovers. And it is more than simply keeping him in his place, while she remains in hers.

Dough Review – This Dramatic Thriller Has All the Right Ingredients

Soon the abandonment they share is palpable, both stand to lose so much should they be caught, and yet like young lovers they are captured by each other, and throw caution to the wind, and without fear, concern, or doubt, grow more committed to the fantasy life they have envisioned. They treasure each moment as if were their last and every minute apart is agony.

By now, and the daily escapes to the cottage, she is pregnant. Her family is off to Venice for a holiday, and she finally explains to her sister, Hilda, played by Faye Marsey, and father, Sir Malcolm Reid, played by Anthony Brophy, what has happened. He explains to her the truth of her circumstances: Sir Clifford will never divorce her, and er best option to return to him, and keep her lover on the side.

She is telephoned by Sir Clifford's caregiver, Mrs. Bolton, played by Joely Richardson, who explains he has forced Oliver to leave the estate.

Love, Charlie Review – A Five Star Experience, A Must See

Lady Chatterley's Lover is an explosion of sensuality, which translates from the screen with an infectious, intense, profound, passion.

The talented cast creates an enveloping, polarized story of life, vibrant, meaningful, and death, void of hope, or passion, wrote in cold stone. Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell abandoned themselves to their roles and are courageously committed. Lady Chatterley's Lover has both full frontal male and female nudity and is clearly erotic with many scenes denoting lovemaking.

Lady Chatterley's Lover, sensual, provocative, beautiful, begins streaming Friday, December 2, 2022. See it.
