Paris Fashion Week Coverage: Ziad Nakad Fall/Winter 2017/18 Couture Collection – The Snow Crystal Forest

Ziad Nakad, the Lebanese born Haute Couture fashion designer, wowed the invited guests fortunate enough to secure an invitation to the sought-after designer’s Fall and Winter 2017/2018 Paris Haute Couture show titled The Snow Crystal Forest.

With Paris sizzling in the July heat, Nakad’s team put together a winter wonderland backdrop with the appearance of a snowy winter evening, black stark trees blanketed in white and the pure white snow falling to the ground. The catwalk was covered with a clear plastic coating giving the impression of ice walk.

For this couture collection Fall/Winter 2017/2018, the designer Ziad Nakad proposes his romantic vision of a season in magic colors where white predominates.

Nakad, world renown for his formal and occasion wear, creates fashion to accentuate femininity, fabrics, colors, trim that clings, brightens and softens.

Winter white that appears as cold, warms in graduation to baby powder, white smoke, ivory, seashell and gradually heats up when velvet, feathers, tulle and lace are interwoven through learned embroideries.

An expert at envisioning and sketching the idea before the realized garment, Nakad skillfully enhances each of his creations with bead work, silver embroidery, and frilly feathers.

Numerous cut-outs on the back and shoulders draw the body to reveal a bewitching femininity. Navy, gray and red enriches the colors of this magical forest.

The Haute Couture collection is breathtaking. Stunning, the formal wear ranges from beautiful tea dresses to magnificent ball gowns.

Party dresses, slinky, sheer, enhanced with an array of intricate bead-work, ostrich feathers, and images of frozen, iced pronged belts and starry night skies on black velvet.

The show ended as it began with two of Nakad’s incredible Couture Wedding gowns.

And a bride like a queen of an exceptional night, dressed in white and gold that illuminates this universe fit to the legends of a thousand and one nights.

A master, his creations epitomize femininity and fantasy.
