Black Bear International to Launch Sales at EFM of Nic Cage Thriller "Longlegs"

Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Watcher) is starring opposite Academy Award®-winner Nicolas Cage in the horror/thriller "Longlegs" for Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan's C2 Motion Picture Group (Babylon). Principal photography is now underway in Vancouver, Canada. 

Monroe had her breakthrough in the cult horror hit It Follows and will play an FBI Agent opposing Nicolas Cage as the titular serial killer "Longlegs." Cage is currently enjoying a career resurgence with critically acclaimed rolesin Pig, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and the upcoming Butcher's Crossing. 


The film is written and directed by Osgood Perkins – an exciting genre talent, best known for writing and directing I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives In The House and The Blackcoat's Daughter and directing the stylish and acclaimed Gretel & Hansel.

In Longlegs, FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family. 

Longlegs arrives as the horror genre experiences phenomenal success at the global box office, with films such as M3gan, Smile, Nope and Black Phone - all exceeding expectations.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Cage is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, with a cult following from iconic and eclectic roles including The Rock, Con Air, Kick Ass and the Coen Brothers' Raising Arizona. He won an Academy Award® for his role in Leaving Las Vegas and was nominated for his performance as Charlie Kaufman and Donald Kaufman in Adaptation.

In combination with Universal's  upcoming Renfield, Longlegs will see a much-anticipated return to the horror genre. After her breakout role in It Follows, Monroe has had further starring roles in The Guest, Greta and Watcher, cementing herself as a 21st century horror star. 

Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan's C2 Motion Picture Group is producing and fully financing Longlegs. 


Sundance Film Festival Announces 2023 Awards

Producers are Nicolas Cage along with his production company Saturn Films (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Pig), Dan Kagan (Significant Other), Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious, Sinister), Dave Caplan (Babylon) and Chris Ferguson (Child's Play). Jason Cloth (Joker, House of Gucci) and Fred Berger (La La Land) and John Friedberg (Greenland) are executive producers. 

Black Bear International will launch international sales at the upcoming European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance are represent domestic rights to the film.

Cloth and Caplan's C2 Motion Picture Group most recently co-financed Paramount Pictures' Babylon, directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, Jean Smart and Eric Roberts. 


95th Oscars® Nominations Announced

Two additional C2 Motion Picture Group films are currently in post-production: The End We Start From starring Emmy® award-winner Jodie Comer and multiple Oscar® nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, directed by Mahalia Belo; and Azrael, the high concept action-horror film starring Samara Weaving, directed by Evan Katz and written by Simon Barrett, which is eyed as a franchise. The End We Start From was made alongside Hera Pictures, SunnyMarch, Anton, BBC Film and the BFI. Azrael was produced with Dan Kagan, Simon Barrett, and Katrin Kissa. 

Black Bear International is coming off the back of a busy 2022, where the new business unit launched sales for titles including Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Craig Gillespie's Dumb Money and horror movie Immaculate starring Sydney Sweeney, which is currently in production in Rome.
