As the sale of Paramount hangs in the balance, held up by federal regulators, Shari Redstone appears to be contemplating a settlement in Trump's billion dollar litigation, and obstructing journalistic freedoms, and integrity are on the agenda.
60 Minutes Producer Quits
Bill Owens, the long-time executive producer for CBS's weekly new program, "60 Minutes," resigned this week after explaining the restrictions placed upon him by the networks have made it impossible to run the show according to expected level of journalistic dedication to the story the viewers have come to expect.

"Over the past months, it has also become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it. To make independent decisions based on what was right for 60 Minutes, right for the audience," Owens wrote. "So, having defended this show- and what we stand for – from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward," NPR.com reported.
While Owens, and other respected members of the media, including colleagues Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, and CNN's Anderson Cooper, have spoken publicly, Owen's decision to leave the show, after 37 years, was based solely on restraints placed on him due to colliding interest, the sale of Paramount and the defamation litigation brought against CBS and its parent company, Paramount, by President Trump over allegations in pre-election interviews. Other clashes included the coverage of Gaza, in the aftermath of Israel's attack and the subsequent annihilation of the Gaza Strip.
Owens, who had been only the third executive producer in the news magazine fifty year tenure, was forced to submit his shows to a journalistic overseer, after the airing of the Gaza Strip segment, which was a newly created position to discourage the production of shows which violated the personal opinions of the networks, or those which may be contradictory to the viewpoints of the current administration.
Owens encouraged his staff not to quit in protest, to remain dedicated to the show's focus.

Virginia Giuffre Dies by Suicide
Virginia Giuffre, who alleged to have been sex-trafficked to Prince Andrew, through his longtime relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and his girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, while she was underage, died this week. She was 41.
Giuffre, who had recently made headlines after her involvement in a car accident in Australia, where she claimed to have four days to live, committed suicide.
The now famous photo, picturing a 16 year-old Giuffre, and Prince Andrew with his hand on her bare waist, with Ghislaine Maxwell in the background, became the foundation of her case against the Duke of York. This eventually lead to years of media coverage, attempts to expose both the Duke, and Epstein, and severe media shutdown, until the tide on allowing the elite, wealthy, and positioned to commit pedophile crimes turned, and Epstein became target number one.
After Epstein's arrest and subsequent suicide, the Duke of York decided to fight the allegations brought by Mrs. Giuffre, nee Roberts, and her recollection of the events. Ms. Giuffre filed a civil suit in the state of New York, and he decided to give an interview with the BBC. While it scored high ratings, it was a disaster for the prince and the monarchy. A settlement was offered to Ms. Giuffre and accepted.
Her courage, dedication and determination to fight these incomprehensible wrongs was admirable and overtime her downfall. She settled into a lowkey lifestyle, one which for someone who had been on the world stage, may find challenging, and seemed to be adjusting.
Unfortunately, a traffic accident, which was reported as a "minor collision," had major health consequences for Mrs. Giuffre, and through a social media posting, she appeared deeply bruised, and hospitalized, suffering from renal failure. It was then she explained she was estranged from her husband, and unable to see her three children.
Although local police and detectives are investigating the scene, at this early time there is no indication of foul play.
Virginia Giuffre is survived by her parents, and three children.

Sophie Nyweide Death Ruled Suspicious
Child star Sophie Nyweide, 25, who died earlier this month was pregnant according to media sources, when she was found unresponsive in a wooden area, near her home, in Vermont.
"Nyweide's mother, Shelly, shared a statement with TMZ on Tuesday, April 22. "My knowledge is she was using drugs and was a tiny young woman," she said. "She was with other people when she died. I didn't know them. There is an investigation ongoing. The autopsy results are not in. They said it would take six to eight weeks. So I can't say definitively," reported People.com.
It was also reported the Nyweide, who began working at age 6, starred in the films "Bella," "Mammoth," and "Noah," and worked steadily until she was 15.
Her obituary also included a statement, that she self-medicated to deal with all the trauma and shame she held inside, and it resulted in her death.
While investigators indicate the likely cause of death is an accidental overdose, no other information is available as to whether her efforts to self-medicate to deal with the trauma and shame were brought on by external events which occurred over the course of her 15 year acting career.
