Detective Sarah Lund, played by Sofie Gråbøl, who we understand is leaving Denmark today to move to Sweden with her boyfriend. It is her last day on the job and she get the call. The scene is tense as she makes her way through a darkened warehouse, the lights flicker and then go out, a blood trail, she continues forward and we see a bloody sheet, she pulls it down and we see she was pranked by her squad. The "victim" a blow up accompanies her to the farewell party given in her honor.

Packing her office, her replacement, Lennart Brix, played by Morten Suurballe, quickly moves in, replacing her neat office with his stuff, and on top of it he is a smoker. The two are polar opposites.

Just as she is ready to leave the office with her stuff, bidding the work and world goodbye, the chief comes in with a call. Personal possessions found near a wooden area, lead investigators to believe a crime has been committed. Detective Lund agrees to accompany Detective Brix to the scene and that's it. Ted Bundy American Boogeyman Review – Engaging, Riveting, Haunting

Over a time, span of twenty days, the suspect pool grows and the odds of finding the killer continue to look hopeless. Even when Lennart Brix rushes in believing he has the right suspect cornered, he is forced to release as the evidence just isn't strong enough. Soon, connections close to the information source release the name of a possible suspect and the possibility of justice or vengeance becomes very real.

An intriguing story of murder, politics, and law enforcement and methodical, logical and systematic, detective work, as the two, despite their differences, work together searching every lead, believing that justice will prevail.

Two more seasons follow about a series of killings of soldiers and the abduction of an industrial magnate's daughter.
