The Enforcer Review – An Entertaining, Fast-Action, Thriller

The Enforcer, from Screen Media, presents a story of redemption as an aging mob enforcer reaches his limits and decides to destroy the criminal enterprise he helped build and rescue his replacement before he gets trapped.

The film begins with Cuda, played by Antonio Banderas, bloody, wounded, and near death, walking slowly on the beach, his steps unsure. In voice over we hear him speak of the miracle of each day, as he scoops up a handful of sand and like an hourglass, we see the last of it fall.

Bandit Review – True Story Delivers Charming and Sad Tale

The next scene cuts to a street fighter pumping himself up. Soon he is walking through the crowds of thugs, an arena of muscled, pumped, angry, bare fisted kickboxers, in an anything goes match, winner takes all. Stray, played by Mojean Aria, is nearly beaten until he resorts to serious street tactics and soon the much bigger and favorite is knocked out.

His win earns him an invitation to meet Estelle, played by Kate Bosworth. Her legitimate club, a front for her criminal enterprise, is hopping with Miami nightlife, and the girls, wait staff and bartenders are dressed as bondage dominatrix's. Stray, waiting to be called into the inner chamber meets Alexis, played by Alexis Ren. When he asked her for her phone number, she explains she can be bought through the club. He persists and finally gets her number.

His meeting with Estelle is short, "You fight for me, and I'll fight for you." It is clear she is looking for new muscle and the mongrel fight club at the docks may pay but she pays more, without the pain. She sends him to meet Cuda who begins Stray's on-the-job-training as an enforcer.

White Sands Review – Danish Cop Drama Delivers

The next morning Cuda is having coffee at the beach when he sees a young girl, Billy, played by Zolee Griggs, shoplifting. He finds out she is a runaway from Georgia, and with maternal instinct he pays the shop owner, and explains these streets are not safe for a girl her age. He gives her enough money to cover her for the week, while she thinks about returning home, and pays the hotel.

Before the night is over, the hotel clerk breaks down the door and kidnaps her. Cuda returns the next morning to find the lock busted and Billy is no where to be found. This ushers in the final act. As he is also on Estelle's clock, when she calls, he and Stray are sent out to collect.

Like always, when Cuda shows up to collect Estelle's money, the cheat always has an excuse. With a little coaxing, he reaches into his hiding place and pulls out a wad of cash in a money clip. When Cuda sees the money clip, he becomes enraged and forces the man to tell him where he got it.

After a life of mistakes, he believes he has one last chance to make up for his past and find redemption. In his mind, saving Billy is saving the relationship he can't have with his daughter, who rejects him each time he shows up.

God's Country Review – Resonating, Strong Character Driven Performances

As he and Stray are on an errand for Estelle, they are sent to collect from the newest degenerates on the block, a livestreaming porn factory filled with caged runaways, run by Freddie, played by 2Chainz. Knowing that somewhere in the dungeon Billy is being held captive, Cuda, decides to return and hopefully by recusing the girl, finds some sort of pardon for the life he has led.

An entertaining, fast action, thriller The Enforcer, keeps the audience guessing with unusual plot twists. There is gratuitous nudity, and some of the caged scenes are not necessary. However, it does reflect the further denigration of the underbelly of contemporary society, where girls are snatched or bought and held hostage for, in this case, worldwide livestreaming sex trade sold to the highest bidder, and stays true to the theme.

The Enforcer will be released in theaters and On Demand September 23, 2022. See it.
