The Lazarus Project, from TNT, brings to the screen an intriguing, contemporary, science fiction, series that introduces a secret global organization who can turn back time each time the world confronts the threat of extinction.

In the first episode we are introduced to George, played by Paapa Essiedu, a financial app developer, and his partner, Sarah, played by Charly Clive, a primary school teacher. It is July 1. This is a big day, he is given a loan for his app, Sarah is pregnant, and suddenly another SARS virus in on the horizon and this time, unbeknownst to George and Sarah, it poses an extinction threat.

Suddenly he wakes up and it is July 1st, again. When he finds himself reliving a day from months ago, he thinks he's lost his mind. Not only is he reliving the last six months but everything he and Sarah had accomplished were erased, including his success at work and his marriage to the love of his life Sarah. Worst of all, he seems to be the only one who has noticed what's happened.

This is when we are introduced to Archie, played by Anjli Mohindra, who meets George outside his apartment after Sarah leaves him because his behavior is freaking her out. A third extinction event causes George to seek out Archie and this is when he is introduction to the organization and the idea of an extinction event.

On this day, as George decides to begin working for The Lazarus Project, a secret organization that has harnessed the ability to turn back time every time the world is at threat of extinction, we meet the team and are told that a nuclear warhead has been stolen. Of course, this happens quite frequently, and without the detonation device, it can't really harm anyone.

Like George, those who work at Lazarus are the few people on earth with the ability to remember the events that are undone when time goes back. Alongside colleagues like Archie, standoffish Shiv, played Rudi Dharmalingam, and their steely leader Wes, played by Caroline Quentin, George works to prevent global catastrophe, including trying to track down the formidable Rebrov, played by Tom Burke, a wanted criminal intent on detonating a nuclear warhead and destroying the world.

Each of the episodes introduce the possibility of grievous loss and personal life altering injury when an extinction event triggers the rollback, and explores rouge members of the team, Robrov and the love of his life, Janet, played by Vinette Robinson.

The Tower Review – An Addicting, Binge-Worthy, Crime Drama

Then a freak accident harms someone close to George. Lazarus won't let him turn back time to undo it – unless there is the threat of global extinction. Now George must choose to stay loyal or go rogue, as he is faced with the question: if you had the power to rewrite your past, what would you sacrifice to do it?

The Lazarus Project elevates modern espionage, mixing science-fiction with fact and causes the viewer to contemplate the possibility, good and bad, of allowing the extinction threat to be realized and the high cost of knowledge.

A contemporary, international thriller, The Lazarus Project is streaming now. Riveting and engaging, a must see.
