Baruch Fraternity Members Face Charges in PA Murder Case

Colleges and Universities have continued to allow houses to engage in the open secret of alcoholic consumption and hazing rituals and have failed to provide adequate built in precautions, such as stop words which are acceptably used in the deviant sadomasochistic sexual activity and are built into the activity to serve as an emergency brake.

On February 2, at The Alpha Upsilon house, a "Dry" house with an Risk Manager living in house to manage the forty brothers who were currently living in the residence and to ensure no alcohol consumption took place inside the house, a zero tolerance for alcohol rules infringement included mandatory expulsion, the boys were preparing for the Hazing ritual and had collected more than $1179.30 for the purchase of alcohol.

The Risk Manager, Michael Schiavone, 21, collected the money he and Craig Heimer, 21, purchased cases of Crowne Rose Vodka, Natural Light Beer, 15 cases of Four Loko, a strong malt liquor, and multiple boxes of wine.

Pledge Night began at 9:00pm. The fourteen pledges were summoned and participated in a drinking game called "running the gauntlet." Pledges were told to line up according to height and walk, single file up the stairs, where a ritualistic introduction began. The pledges than ran down the steps passing a bottle of vodka between them as they ran down the steps. drinking stations, Timothy Piazza started the night managing to keep up with the pledge expectations slugging vodka, shooting a car of beer, proceeding to Beer pong.

The Next Twelve Hours

The house surveillance system showed Piazza being assisted by two different fraternity members within minutes of each other. The tapes show him in obvious distress and unable to walk. Piazza is left alone and while still alive is severely hampered in mental comprehension and physical ability, within a minute of being unaccompanied he "severely staggering drunkenly toward the basement steps." He passes two additional fraternity members in this dry house and lurches, staggers and falls head first down the basement steps.

Gruesome Murder of Teen Shocks Prosecutors

At 11:15p.m. fraternity embers begin to assess pledges and sent an IM using GroupMe stating, "Also Tim Piazza might actually be a problem. He fell 15 feet down a flight of stairs, hair-first, going to need help."

Over the next 12 hours' members of Beta Theta Pi Alpha Upsilon fraternity refused Piazza medical care understanding his injuries may result in an investigation of the Fraternity and the possibility of criminal charges and suspension. The members were acutely aware their futures rested in ensuring all evidence was destroyed and a concrete and tangible story was concocted should any investigation take place.

Surveillance tapes reveal Piazza had stumbled and fallen head first twice down a flight of stairs, three times on a solid wood floors, and twice into wrought iron railing. As he lay dying, he was slapped, held down against his will, "backpacked" loaded down with books in a backpack to keep him from moving or choking on his vomit, he was pounded on by a pledge who tackled another landing on Piazza who was unconscious on a couch.

An ambulance was eventually called and Piazza was rushed to surgery where the attending noticed his abdomen cavity contained 80% of his blood and it was dark, old in color. His spleen was shattered. His blood alcohol was between .26 and .36% at the time of death. His official cause of death is listed as traumatic brain injury from multiple falls.

Penn State President Eric J. Barron indicated the Grand Jury report was "sickening and difficult to understand."
