State Department Issues Worldwide Travel Alert; Canada Slows Syrian Immigration

The State Department issued a worldwide travel alert for U.S. citizens today, citing increased threats from terrorist groups such as the Islamic State Fighters, ISIS/ISIL, al-Qa'ida, Boko Haram and Wilayat Sinai in the wake of the Paris Terrorist Attacks.

Authorities believe that terror attacks are more likely as members of ISIL return from Syria and Iraq, and say that the alert will expire on February 24, 2016.

The following maps show the Global Terrorism Index, an index that ranks terrorism's effect on a country, and ISIS's global strategy.

The Canadian government announced today that it will be pushing back its deadline for bringing in 25,000 Syrian refugees, and will only be able to bring in 10,000 by the end of the year. The rest will be brought in by the end of February, according to the Associated Press.

Include the following visualizations in your coverage to show the number of asylum seekers in Canada over time, as well as to show maps of where Syrian refugees are being relocated to and where Canada's refugees come from.
