British Prime Minister David Cameron, who announced his resignation after the British people voted to leave the European Union, a decision that is contrary to his political position, is set to officially leave his post Wednesday, July 13, 2017.

Cameron’s resignation was a stunning cap on the global shake-up experienced after the infamous Brexit, which divided the United Kingdom into two camps each hoping for a conclusion that best served the UK and its people.

Under Cameron’s tenure the United Kingdom, like the world has come back from the brink of global economic collapse and with a strong G7, and partnerships with the United States, President Obama, Germany and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, France and French President François Hollande, the nation's worked together to lower unemployment, create jobs, assist our European allies in handling the refugee crisis and rise of terrorism.

Supporters of leaving the European Union throughout the months leading up to the vote had cautiously indicated an outcome which supported the leave could have adverse effects on the future effectiveness of the current prime minister, who confidently called the referendum.

The loss felt far and wide, through the Kingdom and the world, was a hard hit for the politically well liked Cameron. Without pausing to catch a breath, against the strong suggestions of global leaders, Cameron announced his resignation in a moving speech that praised the strength of the people.

It was obviously clear he believes the decision was misguided and that remains to be seen. Cameron has yet to invoke Article 50 which declares the intent of the United Kingdom to exit the EU.

Britain’s Next Prime Minister, Theresa May, a Graduate of Oxford University, has been the leader of the Conservative Party since July 11, 2016. She won by default after all others withdrew their bids for the top leadership position.
