Avengers: Infinity Wars Review – Epic Saga Falls Short Under High Body Count

Avengers: Infinity Wars, from Walt Disney Motion Pictures Studios and Marvel Entertainment, presents the ultimate epic saga pitting every character under the Avenger domain against the evil of Thanos, who will stop at nothing for ultimate rule.

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity Wars stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackle, Sebastian Stan, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage and Benedict Wong.

Avengers: Infinity Wars also stars Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio Del Toro, Chris Pratt, Sean Gunn, William Hurt, Letitia Wright, Terry Notary, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Carrie Coon, Michael James Shaw, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, with Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Samuel L. Avengers: Infinity War begins with a resurrected Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, and the warlord, Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, an evil oversized killing machine, who is known for running over planets, who are powerless against his army, strength and might. With Loki attempting to talk his way closer to the giant, Thanos picks up Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, by the neck and explains the Infinity Stone or your brothers life.

Loki who has considered Thor both brother and enemy having him put to death is not a dilemma until he begins to see him suffer and then, stops Thanos and produces Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, who attempts to kill Thanos. Hulk too is defeated.

Heimdall, played by Idris Elba, has also been mortally wounded in the battle, and seeing Hulk powerless against the strength of Thanos he summons all evil and transports Hulk back to earth. Loki once again, seeing an opportunity explains his experience with earth, to which Thanos finally kills him. Heimdall is also killed. Hulk who returns to Bruce Banner lands in the museum of Wong, played by Benedict Wong and Dr. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Jr., and Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, are in New York City’s Central Park talking nonsense, dinner reservations and wedding plans, when a window opens and Dr. Strange, whom Stark has never met, explains the fate of the universe depends on him. Skeptical, it is only when Tony sees Bruce who explains Thanos is on the way that he follows the two.

The next scenes are introduction to the Infinity Stones, which during he Big Bang, elements necessary for life, where scattered into five different hiding places protected by those who are dedicated to guarding them at all costs. The five stones are guarded by members of the global organization of Avengers and Super Heroes.

Avengers: Infinity Wars is a Marvel’s Fans nirvana. The film has all the mythical, mystic, high flying performances one would come to expect from the Marvel characters. The warriors, both known and unknown to each other are now, unified against a steamrolling killing machine.

The battles are epic with a full range of super strength, weaponry of the gods, of no avail as Thernos rolls over each planet. Those who join, as the invitation is extended, are made laborers; those who don’t are lined up and shot.

Of course the backstory of Thernos, is of someone who rescues children, desires to further peace on his planet, prefers to live out his days in peace on his once fruitful planet. Circumstances have caused this gentle giant to become uncontrollable with range and hate.

Avengers: Infinity Wars summons the original Avenger Iron Man Tony Stark, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, War Machine, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Loki, Vision, Nebula, Gamora, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Mantis, Eitri, Okoye, Heimdall, Star Lord, M’Baku, and Ayo and even the Guardians of the Galaxy, the third cousins of the others, who are a little less serious, more fun loving and are considered insignifanct by the more serious and naturally gifted into this epic battle.

You Were Never Really Here Review – Joaquin Phoenix Delivers a Heart Stopping Performance

For every fan who has ever invested rooted for Tony Stark and team, for Thor and Loki, for Spider-Man for any character, and we all know there are legions of fans around the world who will walk away from Avengers: Infinity Wars with a sense of loss.

The story of ultimate defeat of all good leaving evil in power is nearly an antithesis of the MARVEL franchise, the fighter of good and deliverer from evil is worse than imprisoned, they are dead.

While generally the dialogue in Avengers: Infinity Wars is solid there are some holes passing on moments of humor to continue the dive into evil. I prefer a comedic repartee when possible to take the edge off the situation.

Unless one pants after evil, and Thanos becomes the object of your affection, there will be a sense of loss as the film brings to the screen every character, known, remembered, and recently introduced and unfortunately unceremoniously kills them off.

Avengers: Infinity Wars may not be a MARVEL Top Ten, although it will attract the Superhero, Avenger, Marvel groupie and is expected to take the box office worldwide.

Simply on aesthetics the film is brilliant; eye popping colors, fast action, well defined characters, and on the entertainment level it is off the charts.

Avengers: Infinity Wars is playing in theaters everywhere. See it.
