My Bigfoot Life, from M and M Film Productions, presents the story of an unlikely champion who finds his passion as he watches professional bigfoot hunters on television scouring the Pacific Northwest in search of the illusive Sasquatch.
The documentary begins with a mix introduction, we see a young adolescent talking to a crowd at a mythical legends convention, and then we are introduced to Gemma Barnett, Daniel's mom. She tells us the story of her son, her pregnancy was uneventful, progressed perfectly, and she loved every minute of it. Then, Daniel was born a month early, which can be chalked up to miscalculation or premature. However, she explained that she knew at six months something was wrong. It would be four more years before she and her husband, Craig, received the diagnosis she innately knew, Daniel was diagnosed with selective mutism autism.

As the film moves through his young life phases, we understand his parents embraced his passions and one passion that he developed was cryptozoology. By 14, his passion for cryptozoology led him to explore the great outdoors and interview researchers and scientists from various parts of the world in search of information on these fascinating but largely considered mythical creatures.
Through interviews he credits his grandfather, Adrian Roberts, with igniting the passion for cryptozoology, as they would watch the Travel Channel's Expedition Bigfoot and Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot, in marathon sessions. Soon, young Daniel decided it was time to explore his area and so he and his gran, Jill Roberts, went hiking in and around their area. Once the exploration bug bit him, he became more meticulous in his efforts to explore locations where a possibility of finding evidence of a living ancestor of Bigfoot existed.
On one hunt he finds what appears to be a footprint and makes a plaster molding. He also digs up the footprint and finally, after contacting several DNA analysis companies, found one that would analyze the DNA for free and the results surprised everyone, including the world of Bigfoot hunters, as the results yielded evidence of squirrels, dogs, and an ancient primate or ape. This discovery set the cryptozoology on fire.

And ignited an even greater passion in Daniel. For those who are not believers in the mythical creature Bigfoot, from the documentary we find they are most comfortable in the Pacific Northwest. As Daniel's journey continues, members of the Bigfoot community embraced him and his efforts and invited him to America, along with his family to search known areas for the elusive Sasquatch.
While he is handling every detail and new environment with ease, he has never flown and despite all efforts from his family to calm him, he is unable to face the unknown of flying and forces the plane back to the gate and deboard. One would think this is where the journey ends. It may have, however, Daniel, along with his family, decide to try again, and this time they are successful and reach the Pacific Northwest.
This moves the documentary into the final act, as Daniel, his family, some professional Bigfoot hunters, and a few special guests, enter the darkened forests of the Pacific Northwest hoping for a sighting. What could possibly go wrong?
The Cut Review – Provoking, Gripping with Riveting Performances
As a belief in the existence of the mythical Bigfoot is necessary to believe in the entirety of the film, My Bigfoot Life is either all documentary or all documentary and part mockumentary, either or My Bigfoot Life is a fascinating and charming story. Daniel is an unlikely hero and champion, as he conquers his Autism challenges to speak to crowds, to further his beliefs and hunt for bigfoot, and as writer and co-director of this film.
My Bigfoot Life also features Ryan Golembeske and Ronny Leblanc from the Travel Channel's Expedition Bigfoot, and James "Bobo" Fay from Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot.
A family friendly film, My Bigfoot Life, is delightful for all ages and is playing in theaters across the UK. See it.
