Nancy Motes, Half-Sister of Julia Roberts, Found Dead

Nancy Motes, the estranged half-sister of Academy Award winning actress Julia Roberts, was found dead over the weekend of an apparent overdose in the Los Angeles home of a friend where she was house-sitting.

 

Motes, 37, reportedly sent a series of angry, resentful and bitter messages to the "August: Osage County" star, on the micro-messaging platform, twitter, just prior to her death, posting them under her soon to be married name, Nancy Motes Dilbeck.

Motes who lambasted the Oscar nominated actress for her successes, failures, alleged bullying of her very public weight issues, her refusal to help, and although not specifically mentioned her lack of generosity when she did.

Motes, following on the heels of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death of an apparent heroin overdose last week, died in the bathroom, and according to the LAPD officials water was in the tub and an array of both prescription and non-prescription medicine were around her.

Ms. Robert's, said to be devastated, did not attend the Academy Nominees luncheon on Monday held at the Beverly Hills Hilton and did not issue a statement specifically regarding the death of Ms. Motes.

Although the family of Ms. Motes did issue the following, "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes confirms she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose."

Ms. Motes' fiancé, John Dilbeck, has not issued a statement. The two were planning a May 2014 Wedding.
