Award winning independent studio, NEON earned 18 Oscar nominations, the second most for any motion picture studio. All of NEON's 18 nominations are for international films - with 5 different films represented, spanning 12 categories.
Leading today's Oscar recognition for NEON is Joachim Trier's Cannes Grand Prix winner, Sentimental Value with 9 nominations, including Best Picture, in which it is the first Norwegian film to ever be nominated for the category.

The nominations also mark Trier as the first Norwegian director to be nominated twice for Best International Feature Film and the first Norwegian director nominated for directing a Norwegian film; the film has become the most nominated Scandinavian film in Academy history, and all four actors are first time nominees; finally, Stellan Skarsgård is the first international actor to be nominated in the Best Actor In A Supporting Role category.
With 4 nominations, The Secret Agent made history with the most nominations ever for a Brazilian film and Emilie Lesclaux marks the only sole female nominee for Best Picture.
