WRECK-IT RALPH, from Walt Disney Animation, a Honey Glow Good Time!

WRECK-IT RALPH, the newest animation feature from WALT DISNEY ANIMATION, brings to life the arcade experience in eye popping 3-D, explosive neon colors and a wild ride through a candy land fantasy.

Produced by Clark Spencer and executive produced by WALT DISNEY and PIXAR Animation CCO John Lasseter, WRECK-IT RALPH, stars the voice talent of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Alan Tudyk, Mindy Kaling  and Jane Lynch. WRECK-IT RALPH is directed by Rich Moore.

WRECK-IT RALPH animates a group of classic arcade games paying homage to Mr. Lasseters’ childhood past time and really to anyone who grew up in the era of Friday night quarter feeding arcades, Pac-man his mate, Ms. Pac-man, asteroids and the myriad of other unknown arcade games.

WRECK-IT RALPH, voiced by John C. Reilly, is lonely. He is the celebrity of the arcade game, FIX-IT FELIX,  an unappreciated by the headliner, FIX-IT FELIX voiced by Jack McBrayer, and his teammates. He lives in the garbage dump, sleeps in a hard, lumpy brick bed looking at the pseudo celebs living in the penthouse and enjoying themselves.  Ralph is a man of action and as a man of action he decided to find out why he’s never invited to the big house for after hours fun!

After his situation and place is clearly explained, WRECK-IT RALPH armed with the information on how to change it, sets off on the adventure of his arcade lifetime. Crossing into worlds unknown in his quest for rightful recognition he meets Sgt. Calhoun, voiced by Jane Lynch, a tough-as-nails squadron leader from Hero’s Duty and makes a cross game getaway into Sugar Rush where he encounters, Vanellope von Schweetz, voiced by Sarah Silverman. Referred to as glitch due to a coding flaw, Vanellope and WRECK-IT RALPH are stuck together, as both are considered outcasts.

What ensues is a journey across arcade game zones, fighting unknown worlds, pit falls, traps, and hidden agendas as well as encountering deeply buried and dormant emotions.

Of course, the vivid colors and animating of all the characters are appealing to the intended audiences and yet even a child will recognize the anguish and hurt in particular scenes. The destruction, “for your own good,” as Ralph explains, of Vanelloppe’s treasured possession will evoke emotions even in the youngest of audience goers. It was, apparently, necessary for the story line and still somewhat violent and an analogy of what adults inflict on each other when they can.

WRECK-IT RALPH, animates countless game figures and under the incredibly imaginative and creative team at Pixar appears to be looking for the next group of on-screen pairings that were as heartwarming, loveable and endearing as the original TOY STORY cast of charming characters.

Under the direction of CCO John Lasseter the Pixar team has scaled unparalleled heights and as they search for the next group, with audiences as the judge in what will result in a next generation ensemble cast for future audiences.

Bringing the classic double feature back to the theater Walt Disney Animation films presented before the feature presentation, PAPERMAN, a black and white animated short that creatively presents the story of a young man’s flight o’ fancy as he spies the object of his affections. As it is a silent film, the creative team at PIXAR has taken iconic imagery from the 1950’s, and with one single splash of color tells the tale of how life awakens into a whole new world when one finds love and how he’s willing to risk all if necessary.

WRECK-IT RALPH, a charming story of recognizing the value of every member of the team, even those often passed over for the more talented, beautiful or different. WRECK-IT RALPH has several emotional scenes that children (and adults) will identify with for different reasons of course.

WRECK-IT RALPH, from Walt Disney animation, does deliver on every level with strong voice performances, beautifully created amusement arcade worlds, emotional storylines and ends on a fairy tale high note leaving audiences with that warm fuzzy honey glow feeling!

WRECK-IT RALPH opens everywhere November 2, 2012.
