Signing Santa Brings Joy to Thousands This Holiday Season

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, The Beverly Center and The Taubman Company recently partnered to launch a one-of-a kind opportunity that enabled deaf children across the country to tell Santa their Christmas wish in their own language.

The Signing Santa, who uses and understands American Sign language, program was launched in association with the Home Entertainment release of ICE AGE CONTINENTAL DRIFT from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment who included, for this first ever, a Picture-to-Picture signing of the entire film so that all, hearing and impaired, can enjoy this extraordinary family adventure.

KeKe Palmer, Sean Berdy and Amber Zion were invited to attend this spectacular event as well as students from the Marlton School for the deaf and hard of hearing. The event was held with full participate from GLAD, Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deaf.

 

The Picture-to-Picture feature is located in the lower right hand of the screen and is performed by Berdy, who has appeared in ABC’s Switched at Birth, a drama centering on the discovery a children switched at birth and the families who raised them and Zion, who has appeared in CSI: NY and other film and television roles.

 

Keke Palmer, a well known actress, singer, songwriter and fashion designer voiced the role of Peaches in ICE AGE CONTINENTAL DRIFT and was also on hand to lend her support to the opening of The Ice Palace, and the Signing Santa.

 

The Ice Palace opening celebration, at the Beverly Center, gave media and guests the chance to experience firsthand the features that included a 30 foot ice dome with falling snow, a light show, and new this year a beloved prehistoric herd from ICE AGE CONTINENTAL DRIFT.  Interactive super globes highlight the films characters in iconic moments and throughout the Palace children and adults will have a chance to participate in special, interactive, games. The Ice Palace provides the opportunity for guest to enter into the high seas adventure of ICE AGE CONTIENATL DRIFT throughout the display and ends with a visit to Santa.

 

The ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DIRFT franchise is part of the Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment family and they are always looking for new ways to engage families. This holiday season they reached out across the traditional lines to include those who may not be able to read captions and are able to understand American Sign Language.

 

The Ice Palace, along with the Signing Santa is on display at all the Taubman properties until the last child visits Santa on Christmas Eve, December 24. The Ice Palace at The Beverly Center is located on the sixth floor. The Beverly Center is open throughout the Holiday season, Monday through Thursday 10:00 AM until 10:00PM, Friday and Saturday 10:00AM until 11:00PM and Sunday 10:00AM until 10:00PM.
