The negotiations dedicated to a peace plan between Russians and Ukrainians under the aegis of the United States are proving to be a polite consultation of the Old Continent on an issue that concerns it but goes beyond it.
It seems almost obvious, if not totally obvious, that the negotiations started in Geneva between the European powers supporting Kiev in its fight against Russia, the United States and Ukraine, are only a polite form of consultation with the Old Continent, before the validation of the plan drawn up by the Trump administration as part of the settlement of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Tired of this war, Washington and Moscow have therefore agreed to establish a pacification process more than favorable to Vladimir Putin. However, beyond the plan as such, another reality is emerging that is just as worrying for Europe.
Disclaimers and Considerations
Attached to its proximity to the United States, Europe is forced to note, despite its denials, that Washington no longer shares the same feelings towards it. There are several reasons for this, including Donald Trump's desire to empty NATO of its substance and to respond to the pillars of his program, America First, and therefore far from Europe and the general, financial, diplomatic and human costs that it generates.

The immediate consequence for Europeans, who are confounded by naivety and a cruel lack of lucidity about the geopolitical reality of their own continent, is the fact that they are sidelined in the negotiations aimed at establishing peace in Ukraine. In fact, a Washington-Moscow, London, Paris, Berlin or Rome axis is emerging, an axis where humanist considerations have given way to a pragmatism bathed in cynicism.
Reason and Theatre of Operation
The Trump administration, which certainly lends an overestimated influence to Russia in Western Europe, is nevertheless tempted to agree with the strongest in order to avoid potential negotiations deemed superfluous in view of their estimated length.

Trump's postulate is clear: Sign, or more precisely expedite it, peace in the state of the forces and territories conquered in the present, even if it is to the detriment of an amputated Ukraine and a Europe that has been set aside. If the Cold War had opposed the Eastern and Western blocs, Europe, itself involved in the Western bloc, had a political and geographical existence.
However, in the Trump-Putin logic, the latter only has a geographical role, a theater of operation like any other, of relative importance, which evolves according to circumstances. These are the new lines of world diplomacy that has buried multilateralism in favor of the law of the strongest.
